GRUPO TALÍA

The lisping choir at full lisp.
Yesterday we raised over £1400.00
Money that will be used towards the upkeep of our lovely hall
A Hall that has been friend of the Flower Show for 50 years

Ps some thoughts on vicarious pleasure

Yesterday  Pippa from the Rectory won first with her coffee cake, she was beaming from ear to ear
Mr Kerfoot entered his first show, even though he’d lived in the village for over 60 years
He won best in show for his vegetable trug and it was a pleasure shaking his hand as he got photographed by a proud family
Ma Manley beamed at her best in show quiche and Jenny Morris and hubby and mum giggled with delight in their multiple wins.
Pauline M won the cup for most points in the flowers and told me she’ll spend hours on social media sharing her success ….

That’s the importance of the Flower and Produce Show

A bit of pride, a bit of community, lots of fun and
A bit of validation

Trelawnyd Flower & Produce Show 2025

Seeing the pleasure in the new exhibitors for winning , is a vicarious and wonderful pleasure

Chic Eleanor ( left)

Actor and pianist Philip Hughes opening the show wonderfully

Animal helper pat checking her winnings

Jenny morris is a delight, but almost had a stroke putting in her entries late

Pauline chuffed at her Flower Cup

This guy entered the vegetable basket for the first time and won best in show

Monika and her daughter

Hattie in centre checking her exhibits

Ma Manley brought her book for the villagers to review

Her dog won best in show

We started quietly but were busier after 2 pm

I took the exhibit photographs before we opened

I entered my plastic tulips in for a laugh

Prep

I’ve been at the hall all morning, writing each entrant in the flower show bible
so that we will have some idea on how to organise the tables this afternoon
I wanted 400 entries this year
We have received 401

Dusk

Dusk in Trelawnyd
The cottage creaks and groans gently as it cools
in the breeze
But the chickens still look busy in the garden
As Weaver and Bun hunt in the pony field
Like tigers

Flower Show Prep

9 am and I counted just three entries total for the flower show.
Mrs Trellis called from the kitchen wall at 10 am with her entry, neatly written in her usual penmanship
Two pound coins selotaped to her envelope an entry fee
She gave me a snickers bar wrapped in brown paper and string

In drips and drabs villagers popped round
Envelopes in hand
Old cups appeared today too, polished and ready
Chic Eleanor has entered her recent pottery efforts with the cry “ Darling how absolutely exciting ! It’s my first public entry ever!”

I stopped neighbour Ira with the request of a vase of flowers
She agreed, I’m always touched that people allow me to gently bully their entries
A novelty vegetable entry came in from Spain ( above) a lovely thought from Hannah who was one of our original flower show committee members

My old committee 2013
Hannah is far right
Auntie Glad in green

I’ve felt a great deal of love today
Gentle people joining in to an event that still means a great deal to a great number of people
I went to my sister Ann’s house for supper, and more entries came in there and were waiting for me when I got home …..
3 entries this morning

Zombie face

The injection into my eye went slightly wrong
Bless her, the nurse knew I was phobic and jumped when I felt some pain
Fucking hell

What else can go wrong

Hilarion's death and "fugue of the Wilis

This is worth seeing
Not the Japanese Ballet but a wonderful interpretation

The cottage was valued today, so it looks neat a tidy.
The assessor told me it was the most cosy and sweet cottage she had valued since she last saw in back in 2018 when it was up for sale before the divorce
“ How are you?” She asked me without any edge and the question caught me totally unawares

I almost teared up but didn’t and she was gracious enough not to notice ,
but merely said
“There’s a lot of love put into this home”
I smiled
And as she assessed upstairs the postman arrive with flowers from blog reader Kath
A lovely kindness

The assessor walked down the stairs and said
“ lovely new bathroom , I like it”
I preened
And suddenly
Weaver stalked past us with a dead shrew in her mouth
