What a wonderful show, amazing exhibits, and excellent attendance!!!!! The food, real vegetables, and flowers look glorious and those cakes and pies - yum! I'd have liked to talk with Ma Manley and to listen as she talked with others about her lovely book. Love seeing your sweet cottage again. I'm surprised your perfect yellow tulips didn't win anything (wink). Ta for taking us along.
ReplyDeleteNow you and the others who works so hard can relax and let your souls catch up with your bodies (as Grandma Hall used to say).
Big hugs!
Thank you Babs xx

ReplyDeleteVillage, the village has only 300 odd inhabitants
Delete300 odd inhabitants? And the others? (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
DeleteThe villagers came through once again, as did the organizers - what impressive entries! The plastic tulips cracked me up :)
ReplyDeleteThey always come up trumps..I’m doing something right
DeleteWonderful. Great to see so much participation and lots of attendees.
ReplyDeleteXx how are you feeling today
DeleteWow! Such a great effort by entrants and organisers alike. I'm sure everyone had a really enjoyable time. Shame your plastic tulips didn't win anything but laughs! Time to pour yourself a large G&T and put your feet up. xx
ReplyDeleteI heard the judge laughing
DeleteSo many wonderful exhibits! Everything looks marvelous. But my gawd, that's a monster zucchini on the produce table! (or courgette, as I believe you call them). Good luck to Kelda in the cupcake (and other) categories!
ReplyDeleteA marrow

DeleteNext year sneak in a category for "out of season plastic flowers" so you can get a big ribbon. Also does some luck person (who isn't on a low carb/sugar diet) get to taste all the cakes? And is that Lemon Curd? Wow.
ReplyDeleteCeci
The two judges taste everything , I’d be the size of a house…it took them nearly three hours to judge
DeleteThere’s a lot of wonderful talent in that room — and community. Ma Manley’s book is an absolute treasure. And the dog deserves the blue ribbon. Wonderful!
ReplyDeletePardon me... Best in Show!
DeleteSteady
DeleteIt all looks fabulous, well done and congratulations to all involved in this amazing show. I'm craving home made cake!!
ReplyDeleteI know, I didn’t taste one, but the judge debbie kindly bought me a scotch egg
DeleteThank you for sharing these wonderful pictures!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, I feel you all support me here in my little corner of the world

ReplyDeleteIts very 1950s
DeleteLove your plastic tulip entry. So will there be the John Gray Commemorative Cup for Most Audacious Entry next year?

Deletei am so proud of you and your village for putting on that fabulous flower show once again, well done all. You got me with the tulips, when I first saw them, I wondered how someone grew them at this time of year, then it clicked, I had seen them at your cottage. I have the same ones in red and they are the best plastic flowers, so real looking. Thanks for the laugh, john. Bet you are still tired. Gigi

I would have loved to have walked around the entries they all looked so good. The veg entries were fabulous and the flowers, the drawings were especially good too. I love a village show, it's a pity I live so far away to attend. I loved Ma Manley's book I too would buy a copy should she publish. Congrats are in order for your hard and dedicated contribution to your community, all the new attendies will get the bug as well. Well done and good luck going forward.

DeleteWhat a fantastic show, so many entries from such a small village. Well done to all the entrants and to all the lovely committee members. Great photos of everything and everybody thank you John - it was worth it.
ReplyDeleteWe’ve welcomed people this year from out of the village but the majority was from our local area xx
DeleteThanks for bringing us to the show! It was awesome, everything was so bountiful. Excellent job. I think your tulips should at least get an honorable mention. Jen
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the day
DeleteAmazing. Well done everyone, winners and losers alike.
ReplyDeleteAmen cro xx
DeleteThank you so much for the photographs of the show! It looks like it was fabulous! Brings back memories of County Fairs when I was young back in Ohio! Have you heard of or are you familiar with them? They were the absolute best. Fair week was waited for all year! Congrats on a wonderful job! Well done! Kathy

DeleteI just love that your tiny village pulled off such event! It seems that everyone participated. What a day! Your committee deserves an 'attaboy' for a job well done!
ReplyDeleteWe did good debby
DeleteLovely, but the exhibit which caught my eye the most was the hottie at the centre of the topmost photo.Did that win a prize too?
ReplyDeleteThat’s rather sexual raymondo lol xxx
DeleteI didn't mean to be that, JayGee. Merely being factual. ;-)
DeleteThere were some lovely entries there and really varied too. Gatherings like that are probably the life blood of a village and wonderful to see it so well supported and enjoyed. I loved Kelda's video too! She's great.
ReplyDeleteShe’s a trouper
DeleteI missed it this year…maybe next year. Such a wonderful event for your village. Congratulations to the entire committee.
ReplyDeleteweavinfool
My friend , Polly, a doctor from the hospice turned up with her daughters, it was lovely to see them

ReplyDeleteI met people in the village I’ve never met before, new people taking part , which is encouraging
DeleteSO well done! I can only imagine how thrilled Auntie Glad would have been.

DeleteWell, your PREP went well. I love the variety of the presentation of the exhibits. (Your tulips are lovely)
ReplyDeleteThose did make the judge laugh
DeleteWhat a stunning and heartwarming display of the love and caring in your community! Much effort on everyones part.... well done to you, and to all! Susan M/ Calif.
ReplyDeleteWe had a good team of helpers , ian ( village leader) did much running around , I did titivating well, Bridget, velvet voiced Linda, liz and, Melinda and Helen and Chris worked hard too
DeleteWill was a wiz on the door
A team effort
It would be difficult to be a judge as everything looks so great! Well done!
ReplyDeleteWe have four judges ( the cookery judge always brings another sub judge to check her work) and the cookery classes always take at least two fun hours of judging
DeleteSome folk appear to take this very seriously, I hope the judges remainied anonymous! Would like to see a pic of Ma Manley's dog some time and ... her book... that does look very interesting, is she a white witch by any chance?
ReplyDeleteOver the years certain rivalries were famous we had two meirions both with fabulous allotments
DeleteTheir contests were famous and the vegetable classes subsequently huge
I’ve deleted the comment from someone pretending to be a villager.very sad personality disordered individual
ReplyDeleteGood for you squire
DeleteWhere to you find the judges ?
They are good to volunteer but what are their qualifications? ( interested only not shit stirring)
Lee
No happy to share
DeleteThe cookery judge teaching cookery in school and is a certified judge.
The flower judge was a florist for 30 years plus
The vegetable judge helped run the Prestatyn flower show for its entirety and the arts judge was a professional artist
The show.gives them a small monetary gift of thanks for their support.
