My bladder is playing up.
It will do and has done if I forget to hydrate.
I’ve not slept well but I will be fine tomorrow.
Im embracing home today.
So I’m cooking.
A proper roast dinner.
A British roast dinner is like Jewish penicillin Chicken soup
It does you good.
Of course I will make too much , so I will plate up another portion for Eirlys and will pop it, some mince pies and card a bit later.
Leftovers for tomorrow and Tuesday, fried and mixed together
Bloody lovely
The real spirit of Christmas in one large red box
To Jim Davies, the following are two Winnie stories, just for you
Have you tried Liquid IV drink mix for extra hydration? You can get it on Amazon. Hope you feel better soon. Bun
ReplyDeleteI will stick with water with low cal ribina
DeleteIt's good to see that the village is making clever use of the old phone box.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was a nativity scene in the middle with a bunch of Baby Jesuses represented by bananas.
DeleteBring on the baby jesus
DeleteMy oldest is doing lunch for us today... I'm expecting great things.
ReplyDeleteHappy days cro x
DeleteGood to see the food bank doing so well. Since the post with the rubber chicken glass ornament, I've been rereading Winnie stories (and sharing them with SG).
ReplyDeleteWhich one did you like the best xx?
DeleteI don't have a favorite. Any story of Winnie and a construction worker. But the one that hit me yesterday, that I didn't remember, was Winnie jumping in the water after George and needing to be rescued.
DeleteI loved that moment too

Take care of yourself,
ReplyDeleteI am , I’ve had a good sleep this afternoon
DeleteI remember reading the Winnie stories, but they bear re-reading. She really was a one-off. A real diva! I hope the roast dinner does the trick and your bladder settles down. The phone box looks like it's well used, and I'm glad the local tow-rags seem to leave it alone! Enjoy your day. xx
ReplyDeleteIt’s locked at night by the glamorous Malinka le vey
DeleteOh my....that roast dinner looks good enough to eat....
ReplyDeleteThe veg was a bit hard
DeleteEnjoy your roast dinner!
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely
DeleteI , for one, would love a roast dinner that someone else has made. Maybe I should do this for another who would love it as well.
ReplyDeleteEating food someone else has made is as glorious as sleeping in a bed someone else has made
DeleteHmmm. Geographically challenged here. I live in the US. Is a roast dinner roast veggies & meatballs? Pat in Pennsylvania
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks that way, doesn't it?
DeleteNo there is roast chicken under the veggies , and those meatballs are in fact balls of stuffing
DeleteHad to enlarge the picture to see a bit of chicken 🍗 on the blue plate!
DeleteIt does look a tasty platterful of veggies!
I feel like Scrooge , it was a small chicken
DeleteI love the telephone box stuffed full! You live in a village of good people.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a simple good idea
DeleteHope you feel better, John.
ReplyDeleteI’ve drank 6 litres of juice today
DeleteYour roast dinner sounds delicious. The leftovers for the next day will be equally lovely. I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteLike a sort of bubble and squeak
DeleteThe full telephone box speaks volumes about your community. Well done. As for Winnie, if you are sure you do not want to write a book about your village, at least consider creating one with all of your Winnie stories. Jackie
ReplyDeletePerhaps one day
DeleteI love a roast dinner now and then, leftovers for a week. I see meatballs but no roast? Beef, chicken or do you just do the veg and pudding things?
ReplyDeleteThe chicken is sliced and hiding under the veg
Deletethank you again for the Winnie stories- brought me to tears yet again. so glad you understood her. and precious albert. as i've said before , you are a very gifted writer.lini in petaluma
ReplyDeleteI’m revisiting lots of old stories recently
DeleteI wonder why
John, I am honored! Thanks for the Winnie stories, like I said, there are dogs, and there are DOGS! She truly was one of a kind, the sex slippers were hysterical. Stuffing balls? Gonna have to remember that one! Your dinner looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteThanks jimbo , stuffing balls are new on my my mother just used to stuff the Turkey with it, and scooped it out on its own plate at xmas dinner
DeleteDelicious meal and well stocked phone box. Good for you and good for all. So mice of you to make a plate for your friend, too.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon. Hydrate enough but not too much!
Home = bliss.
Hugs!
Making it for Eirlys was purely selfish , I wouldn’t have justified the cook if it was just for me and I would have lost out
DeleteThat looks delish! We had beef today too- a rarity. Eldest daughter brought the Grandies round, so I slow cooked the beef overnight then Husband chops finished it off in the oven with a Yorkshire. A two hour snooze completed a rather lovely afternoon.x
ReplyDeleteSound lovely. I’ve never ever cooked beef, my mother over cooked it and I always hated the texture when I was a child
DeleteUnless you don't eat red meat a simple roast is so easy and delicious. Rub with salt pepper spices, maybe some brown horseradish mustard. 350* /375* for an hour. It makes beautiful brown gravy---look on You Tube. Comes out rare and lovely. What do you use for stews and goulash, crock pot meals? Steak on the grill? If you don't eat beef? [same recipe as above makes a great pork roast or pork tenderloin too, just cook longer.
DeleteThanks Chuck
DeleteMmmm Goulash! That's one to add to the shopping list!
DeleteNo roasted potatoes? A roast dinner isn't complete without roasties! Was the meat being added later?
ReplyDeleteThe meat mis there on the plate and there are mini roast potatoes
DeleteMini roasties? They're not even brown however big they are. Good roasties are lovely and crispy. have a look on You tube, Jamie Oliver does some good ones, a bt squashed so there is more of the surface to get brown and crispy. You need a hot oven too otherwise the oil will just soak into the potatoes.
DeleteWho taught you manners ?
DeleteWhat stopped you from appreciating good adice?
Delete"advice"
Delete"Unrelenting criticism"
DeleteOh dear yet another ridiculous person replying to Anon's comments.
DeleteToo easy to get too busy to drink, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you can flush out the problem 😎
It’s getting better
DeleteHere. much like your red telephone box, we have what are called little free libraries. Usually for book to take and leave, but many now also place food and other items. The two near me are chalk full.
ReplyDeleteThe din-din looks delicious!!!!
Before I read that it was a telephone box, I thought what I was looking at was some kind of funky minifridge, and that led to another thought: Why in the world does he have books in there?
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon after a nice day at home and plenty of liquid. The roast looks tasty!
ReplyDeleteHaving my Sunday dinner today - carer brings it. Your villlge food bank is a lovely idea. And that gorgeous Winnie - bulldogs are in a class of their own aren't they?
