  3. I LOVE both of them. I watch them here in the states from time to time. A pair of classic ladies!

  4. She was just at the early stage of her fame and fabulous partnership with Clarissa - i loved the pair of them together and their irreverence

  5. She was SUCH a gem - and my favourite of the pair as well. By a country mile.

  6. I don't know who that is. I feel left out. I feel left out most of the time.

    2. Jennifer Paterson, one of "The Two Fat Ladies", a BBC cooking series that ran from 1996-1999. It's on the Cooking Channel (here in the states) from time to time.

  7. One of our favorite cooking shows, loved her and she is missed. The old episodes are on occasionally here in the states. Every time we get to see them, it's like they are new again...

  16. Am I the only one here who has no idea who this lady is (was)?

  17. Sorry, but praising half of an anti-veggie, pro fox-hunting, scornful-of-animal-feelings pair is something in which I do not wish to participate. But seems like you've got more than enough supporters anyway, J.G.

Take heart, Raybeard. Me neither [wish to participate]. Which doesn't stop me from leaving my calling card.

Those two ladies remind me of those two guys (similar in size though younger, cooking and on motor bikes) whose appeal does by-pass me like Milton Keynes.

    3. Oh dear..
Well you can't win EM all.....
I think the world was a much richer place with Jennifer in it,
A former convent gal, matron of a girls school, cook to the Ugandan Legation, writer and party gal, Jennifer was oh such more than a supporter of blood sports ( which to be fair is more Clarissa 's bag!

    4. Not to worry, J.G. Our dissenting opinions won't make the slightest bit of difference to my admiration for you and your blog - as long as you continue to have your 'pack' on hand for your interactions with them to keep us entertained.

Btw BotB, I'm not a fan of the hairy bikers either, though in their case I don't know anything of their views on non-culinary matters.
When they started out must admit I'd fantasised that they just might have been 'an item'. What a disappointment! Might just have hoped that Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond had been wedded to each other. Oh, silly me!

  18. She was quite an interesting person. I have Jennifer and Clarissa on DVD and never tire of listening to their banter while they're cooking. Doesn't that pheasant look pleasant!

  20. I always liked Clarissa best, Jennifer's roman catholicism stuck in my craw. And yes, C's autobiography makes fascinating reading.

  21. Love Two Fat Ladies! Always enjoy watching the old shows. She was pretty true to life.

  22. The two fat ladies riding about in a scooter and side-car? They were always entertaining. I can see how they would help you wind down.

They were fabulous and her red nails digging into a food mixture are much missed. While not on air at the moment, our gay radio station has a programme called Two Fat Lattes.

  24. You have to have the ultimate respect for Jennifer, dying of cancer but sipping Champagne on her death bed. Have all the recipe books and if you ever need to impress, the lemon meringue roulades dead easy but fantastically tasty. In fact, John, could you enter this in the flower show and poke Terry's eye out with it?
