I always give my counselling clients the information and guidance that if they don’t gel with me then it’s perfectly normal and acceptable for them to ask for another counsellor .
No hard feelings will ever be felt, I say and mean it
One of my latest clients, I met online briefly, to negotiate therapy . I was at home when we met on teams and not quite au fait with the softwhere , I hadn’t yet mastered the blocking out of everything in the background.
I chatted with my prospective client and by the end of the session they made it very clear that they were very much looking forward at proceeding with therapy.
I hoped it was my professional friendliness that hooked them
But before we parted they shared that they loved my taste in art, especially Enikö Eged’s Running Dogs
Exactly 27 years ago I went to see the film Entrapment at the multiplex in Sheffield, I only know this because I made a note of it in my old Filofax with the mark 9/10 scribbled next to it. (
Exactly 27 years later I’m watching it on channel 4, Jesus I was 37 then….how time flies…it’s still a good movie
It’s nice to have them back

It was your tasteful display that got them. The professional friendliness just sealed the deal! xx
ReplyDeleteI think they are a dog lover , so that helped a bond
DeleteWhatever works. I love your taste in art, too.
ReplyDeleteAmen
DeleteYour method of talking with your clients and assuring them it's okay for them to choose a different counselor must reassure them they're good and you're good.
ReplyDeleteI love that there is so much art around so each person is able to choose what floats their boat! Your art in your home is special to you, as it should be.
Hugs!
It pleases me greatly …and truly
DeleteI love your art wall too, John. It inspired me to make one in my home too (smaller, though it may grow in time). In fact, I think I'll do a post about it for an upcoming "Sunday in the Art Room" blog hop. May I include the photo of your art wall (with a link to your blog) in that post as well?
ReplyDeleteI’m honoured dearHeart , of course
DeleteThanks!
DeleteXx
DeleteI have an art wall too, in the hallway, so I pass it all day long. Even Jack's artwork is up there. Your wall is lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt took me years to find a counselor that understood not just me but my life, she worked in healthcare for many years and she's married to a Dutch man.
I’d love to collect readers art walls
DeleteI was going to suggest that. I remember once or twice in the past we sent you a photo (was it a view out our windows?) and it was so fun to see everyone's response.
DeleteIt was a great idea , I may ask for a sharing of art or art walls
DeleteMy favorites are those clay people sitting on the radiator there.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever find the missing one?
DeleteI had the exact same thought....did one of the cats steal it away to some outside lair?
DeleteCeci
No I cleared the kitchen , and no sign !
DeleteOhh love the wall art!!
ReplyDeleteGreat variety and fab placement. Love the birds!
I also have a thing for Sean Connery, but that's another story.
XOXO
He’s all man
DeleteIf I were an online client, I'd have to say that I love your art wall, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you bob
DeleteYour taste in art suits me.

DeleteFeeling a connection is always important.
ReplyDeleteYour art wall is lovely and tells a lot about you. I love it.
Thank you susan
DeleteHabit can leave us more room for thought. It can simplify tasks and give comfort. I’m thinking of good/ neutral habits. Destructive habits can be soul-destroying.

Having self awareness is the key
DeleteI used to work with a guy who had a similarly curated background and people were convinced it was a filter image and not real
ReplyDeleteThe wall was the first present to myself after the divorce …all the best art went with the prof
DeleteI always so enjoy seeing your lovely and eclectic art wall John. What a great idea for others to share their wall displays too. I even spy the hand done drawing by Gayle of "Two Little Square Black Dogs" blog. So clever with her gift wrapping and artwork. I miss her much. Speaking of missing; Really hoping Cro over in France is ok. X
ReplyDeleteI hope he is too…I’ve emailed him but no reply
DeleteI had several counsellors in the past and it's true to say I didn't gel with all of them. The worst one was a counsellor who I visited once during my finals at uni. I was so stressed and not helped by her constantly interrupting me to tell me how much she had enjoyed her uni days and the finals. Obviously, I never went back to see her.
ReplyDeleteThe first lesson you learn is that it’s not all about you
DeleteYou can tell a lot about a person by the art on their walls, the books they keep, and the back seat of their car.
ReplyDeleteOh lord don’t look in bluebells back seat
DeleteOnce we move to our new home, my art wall will be growing, I can't wait, at the moment it's all a bit scattered.
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely style sue
DeleteLovely surroundings- not only the art wall, but the sights and sounds from the window. Oh to have ponies for neighbors!
ReplyDeleteThey look ghostly with their eye hoods on
DeleteI agree that you can tell alot about a person by their art wall... I don't have an art 'wall' so to speak .. art is everywhere in my house.. mostly mine.. LOVE that movie.. Sean Connery aged like fine wine.. lol Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteSend me a photo of your favourite pieces
DeleteLove your taste in Art. I have the same eclectic type of art in my house and I get very much pleasure out of it. Nice to see the ponies back once again. Gigi
ReplyDeleteGigi send me some photos
DeleteI find solace in the rhythm of the seasons - ponies to pasture; blooming peonies & cacti; garden produce; etc., etc., etc...
ReplyDeleteAmen🙏🙏🙏
DeleteI think habits and routine are the very foundation of my life and sanity these days.
ReplyDeleteI agree
