Eye Hospital appointment today made bearable by professional care, a great consultant and a meeting with fellow patient Mo who is the leader of the village Friendship Group.
I had several scans which shows the bleed in my eye improving
But does anyone else feel like this ? When the doctor , or nurse or technician is scanning my eyes so close up and intimate like , I suddenly have the real urge to kiss them.
Am I unique in feeling this way?

Oh no, I would never felt the urge to kiss someone going near my eyes!!!! My urge would be something between need to run away to scream my lungs out to try to hit that someone with anything heavy enough. I hate and fear someone touching my eye... (and to be honest, I don't want to be near or to be touched by anyone if not a child or an animal. Yes, I'm in the spectrum.

DeleteSometimes, yes, but I have had occasions when their halitosis has put me off the idea. Garlic breath isn't a good fit when you have to get up close and personal!

ReplyDeleteAfter I was married, I was kissed at work by 3 different doctors on 3 occasions when I was not a willing participant. Inappropriate, but in those long ago days it wasn't reported.

On the other hand, having a much better experience this time, with a positive diagnosis does send a rush of - adrenalin, oxytocin, testerone or something - to the brain and elsewhere.

DeleteI haven't had that urge but I do always have to check myself to not say "love you" when I'm ending a phone call. That's what I say to my kids every time I hang up; I know one day I'm going to say it to the plumber or someone equally inappropriate.

DeleteI have a full body skin check every six months at my dermatologist's because I had a melanoma a long time ago. Once, when he was gently running his fingers down my arm as he looked at it intensely, I almost blurted out "That's the most action I've gotten in years." haha

DeleteMy doctor would have laughed along with me. He has a good sense of humor. We have a running joke about how a large benign mole on my hip could be used for "identification of the body" if need be. And that paper gown they give you to preserve some of your sense of modesty? That ship sailed a long time ago. I pretty much discard it right away.

DeleteOh dear. Just under a year ago. In my defence, I am a lonely old widow lady who was actually sixty-thirteen years old on that very day, I was in hospital and had passed what should have been my golden wedding anniversary six days previously, and a lovely nurse helped me to shower. I was sitting, and as she bent to wash my feet, I’m afraid gratitude and emotion got the better of me and I kissed the top of her head. I did explain myself as I thanked her, and she kindly said she understood.

DeleteA young neurologist I knew(he looked much younger than his stated age and grew a mustache to look closer to actual age). One time he was examining a patient’s eyes with a light and very close to the patient. She said “do people ever kiss you when you do this exam? He was young enough he still blushed when he told this story.

ReplyDeleteI belatedly realized I didn't answer your question. When I was in my early 20s I went to a young dentist, not much older than me, and I only ever saw him with his mask on. So I could only see his eyes and nothing else. I developed a little crush on him based on those blue eyes but then I finally saw him without his mask and he didn't look at all like I imagined. LOL! (Sad trombone.)

DeleteI don't have this with doctors, but I did have a better-than-anticipated session at a dental office and jumped out of the chair afterward, asking the dentist if I could hug him in relief. Also, not quite on topic, but as a 74 yo woman who chooses not to be in a relationship, I can be totally knocked out by kissing scenes in movies, much moreso than heavy sex scenes.

DeleteMy husband has wet AMD and he has to have an injection in his eye every 24 days. This has been going on for over a year! The retinologist never gets up close to look in his eye, it is done by machines with all the images coming up on the computer. When he gets the freezing and the injections the chair is slightly tipped back and the dr. stands behind the chair and does the injections from there. No baby blues to look into,lol. Same when we go to the optician for our annual checkup, all done by machines.

DeleteI was almost in tears at the amazing work done to replace a lost front tooth so did ask my dentist if I could give him a hug, he gave me a lovely bear hug with no embarrassment by either of us. When in my mid-forties a colleague was too close and asked if he could do anything for me, my reply was ‘kiss me please’ and we did and from there ensued two intense sensual/sexual years - whew am sweating just remembering him🥵.
