Job

The email came through this afternoon. The hospice had received enough voluntary redundancy applications amongst the nursing staff for the cost cutting to be completed

There will be no compulsory redundancies.

I rang Nu first who suggested gin and lots of it
And I’ve been messaging people for the past hour, thanking them for their support
Finally I took Roger up the lane to Mr Poźnan’s neat bungalow and told him personally

And I hugged him with the longest of Disney hugs

Welsh hugs from France. Too hot here but it’s a good excuse to read books and the I-pad.
I knew all would work out. More Welsh hugs and why not reward yourself with a gin and tonic. I am. Susan

  25. Oh, that is such great news. I've been hoping that would be the outcome (that happened at the school where I worked) but didn't dare voice it in case I jinxed things! I'm breathing a huge sigh of relief for you and your colleagues. Yes, a very large G&T and a happy dance is called for. xx🍸🕺

Am so glad enough of your co-workers volunteers to resign to allow the rest of you to stay. May those who are leaving be going to better jobs, can go part time, jobs closer to home, or even stay home.

    Happy hugs!!

Wow, what a relief! I hope all the "volunteers" are at peace with their decision too. You must have been so nervous opening the e-mail.

Of course (always the buzz kill) with fewer staff the work load will be heavier and perhaps reduced satisfaction for you.

Gin/ice cubes/nice long dog walk! So glad you were able to share with the nice neighbor in person (and with all of us of course).

Oh. I hadn't realised how emotional this news was going to make me. So it really is true - sometimes the good guys DO win. All around the world there will be people lifting a glass, sharing a gin and tonic with you this evening and being overwhelmed by that rarity - good news. I hope you told Mr Poznan that his hug was on behalf of so many other people as well as you. And how much he is appreciated. (You appreciated as well, obviously!)
Have a good weekend. You've earnt it!
