Coffee with Eleanor

I went for an X-ray on my neck and shoulder today, more healthcare but this time professional and very slick. I was in a local cafe by 11am which is owned by the family of Mike Peters, the frontman of the band The Alarm , who died a few days ago. My brother looked after his guitars for him and they were kindred spirits so to speak. The cafe was surrounded by floral tributes from fans, friends and villagers which was sweet

Chic Eleanor turned up looking every inch the English lady she is and hugged me for the longest time
“Darling you need a hug and I have them in abundance “ she purred
I didn’t argue.
I moaned and she listened over coffee
It was good to see her

This afternoon I completed a literature search for uni,

I will leave you with these two videos of well known songs
Genius

Adele’s someone like you and Abba

  1. I enjoyed both videos, although the first one seemed vaguely sinister or threatening somehow. Probably because I am not familiar with that particular song.
Lovely Eleanor always seems to be there for you when you need a hug.

    2. Me too. I've followed his career since I first saw a concert in 1984 when I was 14. A very nice and talented chap.

  3. I love that line, "You need a hug, and I have them in abundance." Chic Eleanor makes me feel good, so I can only imagine how you feel! Those songs reminded me of Peter Cook's A Hard Day's Night. Brilliant! xx

How lovely that you have a delightful hugger in close proximity to your sweet cottage!
Interesting videos. I am not familiar with the songs but those floral tributes are lovely.
Glad today's tests were quick, easy, and not invasive!!

    Hugs!

    2. Hope it's a short wait! Do you know anyone who can let you know how close you are to the top of the list and how many ultrasounds they can do in a day?

      Hugs!

I have said for many years that some of the best poetry is in song lyrics. Glad you had a catch up with Chic Eleanor and I believe you have mentioned that she plans to join your choir.

The Alarm is one of my all time top bands.
After recently having a health scare I decided to part plan my funeral (control freak) The Alarm - Going down in a blaze of glory is what will be the last song played as the curtains are drawn.

  11. One of my nephews, age 17, is completely disabled and non- verbal, and loves all music except Adele's. Any time a song of hers comes on, he weeps. Or maybe he loves it but is moved to that extent. We'll never know.

I enjoyed the first video; you will have to say who that excellent actor is, please.

Well, that was an interesting day: best to get the medical stuff over with early, then you can do better things with the rest of the day than worry! Chic Eleanor is a wonderful friend - hugs were exactly what you needed. Then coffee and a very large slice of ham to finish with.

  13. Calling a woman a "chic" is demeaning to both hens and modern, emancipated women. I love the idea of hugs "in abundance" - like a plentiful crop of hugs.

To have loved and lost is better than never loved.
Eleanor is as lovely as ever and a very good friend.
Hopefully the medical testing provides some insight to what is going on.

  31. Hugs in abundance...chic Eleanor is a good friend to have! You know, this popped into my head a few days back, but I was too busy to stop and drop you a line (if you get to choose between Chic Eleanor and me for a friend, well, your choice is very clear...) Anyways, a few years back, I had the worst problem with my arm. It turned out to be a nerve aggravated by the Acromion process in my shoulder. It was awful, but one steroid injection made a big difference. Hope your issues are just as easily solved.
