I went for an X-ray on my neck and shoulder today, more healthcare but this time professional and very slick. I was in a local cafe by 11am which is owned by the family of Mike Peters, the frontman of the band The Alarm , who died a few days ago. My brother looked after his guitars for him and they were kindred spirits so to speak. The cafe was surrounded by floral tributes from fans, friends and villagers which was sweet
Chic Eleanor turned up looking every inch the English lady she is and hugged me for the longest time
“Darling you need a hug and I have them in abundance “ she purred
I didn’t argue.
I moaned and she listened over coffee
It was good to see her
This afternoon I completed a literature search for uni,
I will leave you with these two videos of well known songs
Genius
Adele’s someone like you and Abba
I enjoyed both videos, although the first one seemed vaguely sinister or threatening somehow. Probably because I am not familiar with that particular song.
ReplyDeleteLovely Eleanor always seems to be there for you when you need a hug.
It’s Adele’s song of unrequited. Love
DeleteI was saddened to read about the passing of Mike Peters. He was a great musician and Christian.
ReplyDeleteHe was much respected here
DeleteMe too. I've followed his career since I first saw a concert in 1984 when I was 14. A very nice and talented chap.
DeleteI love that line, "You need a hug, and I have them in abundance." Chic Eleanor makes me feel good, so I can only imagine how you feel! Those songs reminded me of Peter Cook's A Hard Day's Night. Brilliant! xx
ReplyDeleteShe speaks eloquently always has
DeleteI love the videos. Classic songs are poetry and can be delivered in a multitude of ways.
ReplyDeleteIt’s clever,i like his performance
DeleteHow lovely that you have a delightful hugger in close proximity to your sweet cottage!
ReplyDeleteInteresting videos. I am not familiar with the songs but those floral tributes are lovely.
Glad today's tests were quick, easy, and not invasive!!
Hugs!
Now I’m waiting for an ultrasound
DeleteHope it's a short wait! Do you know anyone who can let you know how close you are to the top of the list and how many ultrasounds they can do in a day?
DeleteHugs!
Chic Eleanor is such a good neighbor and friend! Which you return in spades, Jonno.
ReplyDeleteShe’s one of my touchstones
DeleteI have said for many years that some of the best poetry is in song lyrics. Glad you had a catch up with Chic Eleanor and I believe you have mentioned that she plans to join your choir.
ReplyDeleteThat’s the original plan
DeleteThose videos are wonderful. The first one, he sounds like Hugh Grant, when he was young and hot:)
ReplyDeleteHe’s changed the entire song into a gay man’s unrequited love
DeleteThe Alarm is one of my all time top bands.
ReplyDeleteAfter recently having a health scare I decided to part plan my funeral (control freak) The Alarm - Going down in a blaze of glory is what will be the last song played as the curtains are drawn.
Mike peters lived in the next village of dyserth

DeleteI'm glad today's appointment went better. Looks like a beautiful day to meet up with chic E.
ReplyDeleteA tad cold in the shadex
DeleteStill wearing a down jacket here, lol.
DeleteOne of my nephews, age 17, is completely disabled and non- verbal, and loves all music except Adele's. Any time a song of hers comes on, he weeps. Or maybe he loves it but is moved to that extent. We'll never know.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the first video; you will have to say who that excellent actor is, please.
He’s new to me
DeleteTheyarethesame actor
DeleteReally? REALLY?
DeleteLee
Reallyx
DeleteWell, that was an interesting day: best to get the medical stuff over with early, then you can do better things with the rest of the day than worry! Chic Eleanor is a wonderful friend - hugs were exactly what you needed. Then coffee and a very large slice of ham to finish with.
ReplyDeleteI feel rested today, my arm hasn’t improved though
DeleteCalling a woman a "chic" is demeaning to both hens and modern, emancipated women. I love the idea of hugs "in abundance" - like a plentiful crop of hugs.
ReplyDeleteYou are such awag
DeleteDear beef and gravy , you deliberately misconstrue which made me laugh š, thanks.
DeleteI just had time to watch the TikToks, they're wonderful...you're feeling sad and nostalgic , lonely maybe. today? Sending a virtual hug.
ReplyDeletelizzy x
No im ok x
DeleteOh to have a chic Eleanor in my life I envy you. I am a hugger, my partner not so much. I have to ask!
ReplyDeleteShe’s my touchstone
Deletei really enjoyed your tiktok videos..... very amusing.....
ReplyDeleteAnd moving
DeleteI adored the tic tocs, so moving and spare and still as good acting always is. Yay for the chic Eleanor’s and John’s of this world x
ReplyDeleteJane
How lucky you are to have a Chic Eleanor in your life.
ReplyDeleteI love her saying:
"Darling you need a hug and I have them in abundance."
Adore!
Sweet Eleanor seems to appear when you need her. How nice, John!
ReplyDeleteThe videos reflect:
ReplyDeleteTo have loved and lost is better than never loved.
Eleanor is as lovely as ever and a very good friend.
Hopefully the medical testing provides some insight to what is going on.
Agreed 100%
DeleteOh yes, those videos are marvelous!
ReplyDeleteThey are so clever! The first one moved me so much more than the song does.
ReplyDeleteLovely to spend time with Eleanor too.
Darling John, everyone would do well with some time with Chic Eleanor. Clever videos, but now I’m singing the songs he didn’t sing.
ReplyDeleteJust the right friend to have.
ReplyDeleteMike Peters did some work in Stiwdio Recordio Sain outside Caernarfon where my ex worked in the 80s and 90s. Lovely bloke

ReplyDeleteWhenever Chic Eleanor is mentioned I have visions of twirling pashminas šx
ReplyDeleteHe is an absolute genius with those lyrics, especially the Mamma Mia one. I'm glad that Chic Eleanor was there for you with an abundance of hugs, you deserve them. She's a good friend.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly seem to having everything tested at the moment.
ReplyDelete"You need a hug and I have them in abundance" -- that's about the best thing a friend could ever say.
ReplyDeleteChic Eleanor is a good friend John, but I suspect so are you. Hope you get your test rest back soon and you get sorted x
ReplyDeleteHugs in abundance...chic Eleanor is a good friend to have! You know, this popped into my head a few days back, but I was too busy to stop and drop you a line (if you get to choose between Chic Eleanor and me for a friend, well, your choice is very clear...) Anyways, a few years back, I had the worst problem with my arm. It turned out to be a nerve aggravated by the Acromion process in my shoulder. It was awful, but one steroid injection made a big difference. Hope your issues are just as easily solved.
