Flowers

I pick wild flowers from the hedgerow sides some mornings. The hedges are cut regularly to keep the lane open, so I’m not doing a disservice to any species

  2. In Lancashire we were always told not to bring Hawthorn white flowers (Mother death) into the house because it was unlucky. Here in West Cork I met a German man collecting wild flowers to give to lady where he was staying. Some of the flowers were Thistles. I laughed.

  4. My favourite bouquets are always wild flowers. They may not last as long, but while they do, they give such joy. xx

What a delightful and cheerful bouquet of free happiness in a variety of colorful flowers from the roadside. Eye candy perfection!
Do you ever take a vase of wildflowers with you when you see your clients?

    Hugs!

  9. A sin not to bring a bit of that beauty into the house where you can admire it.

Lovely bouquet, all those different shapes and colors including one of my favorites, Columbine. I need some bouquets for the serving tables at a dinner this week and am hoping things blooming in my garden are still presentable by Thursday!

  18. Our provincial flower (the western red lily, often called tiger lily or prairie lily) has been picked from the ditches almost to oblivion. The gov't has implemented a fine for anyone caught picking them. Of course, travellers just passing through aren't aware of that, so the picking continues. Along our two-mile road where we're the only residents besides the moose, deer, rabbits, coyotes, skunks, raccoons (you get the idea), they're coming back quite nicely, more every year.

  19. That vase looks lovely. Maybe you should have chosen floristry rather that counselling for your next career move.

So beautiful! My friend’s caregiver has another client who always gives her a little bouquet from their garden. This always makes the caregiver happy and she often shares the bouquet with my friend, which is appreciated.

  25. In France, just when the Blackberries are ripe, some kind person comes along with his tractor and cuts back all the hedges. I'm sure he does it to annoy us!

  27. What a beautifully written piece! The way you’ve connected the symbolism of flowers with emotions and storytelling truly brings the post to life. It’s amazing how something as simple as a bloom can carry so much meaning — thank you for sharing this perspective!
