I’m on night shifts over the weekend. But it’s glorious today, so I've made brunch to sit outside in the sun.
A salmon, mango, motzerella, avocado and basil baguette with coffee from my Italian Mocca.
Bloody lovely.
I had forgotten the northern lights last night but was reminded by a friend who texted me a “ go outside now” message and I laid down in the front garden with the Welsh to watch the light show .
More pink than I expected
I had a dream that my grandmother arrived at the cottage.I spied her through the window and she was standing beneath the honeysuckle in a cream coat with cream buttons and a cream hat, but for some reason I didn’t let her in. She fished inside her handbag then left
I rather fancy your brunch right now... and I've just finished my lunch!
ReplyDeleteWe missed the lights last night. Slept right through it all, but the local FB page is flooded with stunning photos. Oh well. I can enjoy it vicariously I suppose.
I think they may be out again tonight
DeleteYes, a spectacular light show all over the northern hemisphere (and New Zealand, I heard). I can't stay up late enough any more to see the northern lights. I'd have to leave the city and drive out to darker rural areas to see them. How nice to step outside into the garden to see the show! That's how it was when I was a kid in a small prairie town. No light pollution then.
ReplyDeleteThe light in the lane still hasn’t been repaired ( thank god) so bwthyn y llan is in total darkness
DeleteYour brunch looks gourmet and very delicious. Enjoy. The light show must have been beautiful. Love the splashing pink. Just spectacular.
ReplyDeleteI couldn’t finish the brunch and kept half for late afternoon. I’ve just had it outside at my garden table
DeleteI’m glad I enjoy my food, it is a great pleasure ( though I do overindulge)
Your brunch looks delicious and very healthy, but quite high in calories--so I was interested that you did indeed save half of it for a later meal. Guessing at sizes, it comes to 1050 calories. You'd save a lot by0y eliminating the high calories white carb baguette and all or most of the high fat avocado. Bed of spring lettuce instead of bread? I only mention this bec you told us you wish to lose weight.
DeleteJohn is aware of calories and nutrients and has no need to be guilt tripped over his lunch. If you want to eat a lettuce leaf instead of a baguette then that's up to you but please don't force your opinions on anyone else.
DeleteAs I see it - The aura was pink which symbolises love - This attracted your beloved Grandmother to you x💗
ReplyDeleteYou never know ,nthough she wasn’t one for pink
DeleteI've still never seen the Aurora. I think there's too much light here, but, if I can stay awake long enough, I'll have a look tonight. It's really annoying as I'm a poor sleeper, and am usually awake in the wee small hours, but not last night!😡 xx
ReplyDeleteSnap, I even got out for a wee last night and forgot to look!
DeleteThat is a sight I'll never see here where I live.
ReplyDeleteI thought that too and there they were
DeleteI haven't seen the lights since I left the farm 50 years ago. I had a dream recently about my uncle, he was trying to buy another accordion.
ReplyDeleteDreams usually mean anxieties that are to be faced.me think I know what mine were all about
DeleteI’m so glad your friend reminded you.
ReplyDeleteHe’s a trooper
DeleteI’m so glad your friend texted to remind you. Wow! I wonder what meaning to give to that dream (if meaning needs to be given).
ReplyDeleteI’ve been thinking about this , and think that she represents my entire childhood
DeleteI didn't check to see whether we could see any Northern Lights here. I doubt it. Maybe we'll try tonight. (Are they still happening?)
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting dream. Did you have a contentious relationship with your grandmother? Is there a reason you kept her outside?
No I loved her deeply , and woke up rather upset
DeleteI’ve seen the Northern Lights in Alaska and I don’t recall pink , more orange and yes lots of green
DeleteLee
Ps your grandmother represents a former time
Your baguette looks wonderful. Great combination of flavors.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned your Grandmother in your post yesterday.
ReplyDeleteSomething about experiences with ghosts /spirits? It may have been your response and not part of the post. - Jackie
I looked for the lights last night but it was too cloudy, so I will look again tonight. Your lunch looks yummy. Gigi
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about the lights until today but our neighbours have just sent us some lovely photos from last night. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWe too could see the Northern Light show here too. More green then pink here. It was pretty cool. Two more nights yet to see it.
ReplyDeleteLaying in the garden with the Welsh ...heaven on Earth.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture you took.
ReplyDeleteIt is a phenomenol event for Alabama ! We were able to see the Northern lights. I was in total awe!!!
ReplyDeleteLinda from Alabama
I'll try to look for the lights tonight, altho, I am not sure what time to do that. I don't stay up that late...
ReplyDeleteThat pic of the northern lights is stunning especially with The Plough in the top right corner.
ReplyDeleteWendy (Wales)
How wonderful to have seen the Aurora Borialis from your garden! Your meals looks scrumptious, too.
ReplyDeleteFret not about not opening the door to your grandmother, she knows you'd welcome her with open arms.
Hugs!

ReplyDeleteCloudy here near Chicago and lots of light pollution. Photo is great Kathy.
ReplyDeleteMissed it here. May have been too far south.
ReplyDeleteI forgot about the light-show. I had a look last night but it didn't happen. I saw it in France once, which was bizarre.
ReplyDeleteIt was a geomagnetic storm .. first one in 20 years
