Fancy A Chat?

Sometimes I wish we had a dishier king.
Even when he was a young man, Kind Charles was never a looker, so to speak.
I think even his mother would contest to that.
Now the new King Frederick in Denmark is a real corker!, beaten only to the top spot of hottest Royal totty by King Filipe of Spain, who I would drop my drawers for, before you could say Patatas bravas.

I’ve always liked Queen Margrethe Of Denmark too
She looks a feisty, pragmatic and entertaining old lady who probably doesn’t suffer fools gladly
Her abdication was, rather moving

Anyhow , last night I had a lovely meal at my sister’s house, and was home at 11.30 before the “ bongs”
Despite a late invite from Affable Despot Jason to the big hoolie at the Hall. I thought it best to go home and chill. Something I am doing today.
I have a friend who is a bit low at the moment
So I have loosely invited them to dinner this afternoon
I am making a chicken roast dinner with all of the trimmings
The leftovers I can play around with over the next few days if needed.

I’m starting the Year as I mean to go on
Optimistically

  1. Sad to see Margrethe abdicate, but she's not in the best of health. She is a very talented lady, did you know that she designed the costumes for a ballet and illustrated books? Hoping 2024 is a good one for you John, you deserve it.

Optimistically is a great word that sets a precedent to be upbeat but also allows for a degree of lows that can be turned upwards!! Keep on being you just as you are John and enjoy all that comes your way this year. Jan in Castle Gresley

I read somewhere very recently that too much optimism makes people make bad choices in the long run; not sure I agree with that at all. Anyway an optimistic outlook going forward into 2024 is in my book par for the course.... who wants to look on any thing NEW negatively. Hope your Chicken dinner is just the thing to raise a mood. Enjoy your day.

Oh dear. I am so sorry. Been there, still doing that. The best advice I can offer you, Siobhan, is to try to be kind to yourself. Take every day as it comes and remember everyone's grief is their own. There is no prescribed time line of recovery, or way to be told how to feel, or how to cope. But you are not as alone as you feel. Talk to people, friends or family. Or charity counsellors. But don't bottle up your pain, because it will always find a way out. Good luck.

I’ve been where you are now, albeit not by illness and death
No real advice except to talk about it, your friends and family will support you even if you feel guilty in sharing
The Samaritans are also a good place to share your feelings in a safe place ( 123123)

It sounds as though you are still shocked by grief, an overwhelming and horrid time. I am a widower and I wanted to bust everyone that used platitudes with me , in the mouth
Keep reading Going Gently and keep sharing your feelings here.

Happy new year John, to a man of many talents! All that money and Charles hasn’t had his ears pinned back! LOL. I can’t forgive Queen Margrethe for cruelly whipping the Prince and Princess titles away from her grown grandchildren. Either don’t bestow them at birth or leave them in situ.
