José Feliciano - Feliz Navidad

The sound worm in my head today. One of the doctors at work has been singing it incessantly, I’m sending a bit of silliness to reader Virginia who perhaps needs the diversion today🎄

Chic Eleanor texted me yesterday afternoon and like a teenager would suggest thumbed an exciting
“Meet you in The Crown in ten minutes” text!
Luckily I was holding my phone when she messaged

We arrived together

It was lovely,
“I do look a sight darling I’m in my scruffs” she shared breathlessly
I thought she looked magnificent,
Even her pashmina looked Christmassy
We stopped at the pub for a good hour and half before leaving for home
Hug fest in the car park before we parted.
She made my day, as she so often does.

So today….
The final village cards will be delivered . A book to Mrs Trellis, cards to the Manley’s and to others.
Jackson Nurseries which lie just outside village delivered a pot of spring bulbs to every house in the village, a tradition which is a sweet one.

Before she skipped off home, Eleanor gave me a tiny gift in the shape of a felt heart
“It’s for your first Christmas Tree next year” she cooed
Now you have enough decorations, no there’s no excuse”
I thought about the beautiful iridescent glass bauble, the magnificent rubber chicken and now the heart, and a score of others put away in drawers and boxes and in the tea caddy on my desk
And She was right

  1. What is the title of the book you gave to Mrs Trellis? I am guessing something raunchy like "Confessions of a Window Cleaner".

Love, love, love Jose Feliciano especially Feliz Navidad, it always gets you smiling and singing (just like Frozen Orange Juice by Peter Sarstedt). All sounds good in your corner of the world with such generous folks surrounding you with love and your reciprocation, it all makes life rosier especially at this time of year. However you spend the festive season enjoy every moment🙏. Jan in Castle Gresley

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without Feliz Navidad ! My favourite album for all of December is Phil Coulter’s Christmas. I wear it out for a month then forget about it for another year. I never get tired of it, just nice quiet music. So nice you got to meet up with chic Eleanor after all, a nice surprise. I think I will go out and join the mad shopping rush today, if only to feel part of something. Maybe just buy some extra dog food. Cheers. Gigi

I haven't stopped singing along with José Feliciano for weeks. As you can imagine it's constantly playing around here. I’m trying to learn purely Spanish Christmas songs, but haven't made great progress. I a so looking forward to your tree next year!

I love your spontaneous fun with Chic Eleanor and her not so subtle encouragement for you to have a Christmas tree next year. Her heart is just perfect, inside inside and out. I'm on board!
I'm listening to Mannheim Steamroller's "A Fresh Aire Christmas" and I dare not listen to Jose!

Lovely heart ornament from the equally lovely Chic Eleanor. The gift of a pot of spring bulbs to everyone from Jackson Nurseries is wonderful and another beautiful example of the many ways in which all in your village are interwoven.
Merry, Merry Christmas, John dear!!! 🎄❄️🎄
