Indiana Jones and the Family From Wales

Harrison Ford is 80
Fuck me, when did that happen?
I notice he’s leading the charge in another Indiana Jones movie
This time with the glorious Phoebe Waller Bridge in tow
I’ve asked Gorgeous Dave if he wants to go and see it next week
It’s a big boys film  for sure.
In 1984 my entire family dressed up in evening gowns and dinner jackets to go and see the “Premier”
Of Indiana Jones and The Temple Of Doom
It was showing in the local Scala Cinema and we booked tickets in the balcony section much to the confusion of the ladies that ran the cinema on that night.
We even got in the local paper

Me and friend Nia

A few months later and buoyed up with our silliness we all dressed up as cowboys and Indians and went to watch a local version of Oklahoma to support my uncle and aunt who were in the chorus

Speaking of fashion, I thought of you when I saw this article in the Guardian about the bucket hat:

You all look magnificent! But have you gone to sing-along The Sound Of Music as nuns? Or The Rocky Horror Show as one of the cast? And if not, why not? Or might that be a future plan? :)

  11. What a fun gang of family and friends. If that opening were today, you'd probably wear a T-shirt with a tuxedo imprint on the front.

  14. What a brilliant idea to dress up for premieres, and you do look very dapper in that old photo. You should at the very least wear Indiana Jones hats and carry whips for your next visit. :-)

  19. I dressed as a nun for a Sing-along-Sound of Music, such fun. I recently put my nun outfit and headdress into the charity clothes bag, I did wonder what the staff must have thought when they found it! Silliness from time to time is a good thing.

  20. You probably wouldn't want to dress as an "Indian" nowadays. I think a lot of productions , movies tv, songs and the written word from years ago are now considered as racist or sexist. At least here in America.

We were a product of our time for sure

  21. Adding on: I recently reread a book from years ago and was appalled at the racist and sexist remarks that were mace which were acceptable in the 70s.

Nope can't see either sqwar or squaw
unless you mean the one with a headband a what looks like a nightgown with a fringe on the bottom. Not what I'd call buxom though.

  23. You were obviously attending the Hollywood premiere, at least in your minds. :)

I can't believe Harrison Ford is 80. Just add him to the long list of people at whose age I'm now astonished.
