Thursday Morning

Night shifts have come around awfully quickly this week.
Back tonight.
I finish Saturday morning which will mean I can watch Eurovision in the Hall Saturday night.
Bluebell needs more work this morning, but that’s the only big job of the day to sort.
I’ve already given the dogs their big walk and mown the lawn.
My sister is due to do the garden but is snowed under by bookings
The garden will be transformed in a week or so when the alliums bloom. At the moment the aquilegia and forget me nots are. Filling the borders with their gentle colour
And the cheerful Welsh poppies are poking their yellow heads in the few gaps left

  1. Pretty. Just what a cottage garden should be like to my mind.

  2. It's looking beautiful John, a little bit of wildness until your sister can get around to you will only make it more magical.

Lovely garden John, my lilacs are blooming along with forsythia. next door the apple tree is in full bloom after having very few blossoms last year. Its amazing what a big trim will do to it. The trees now have leaves so it has gone from brown to green in about a week! In front the tulips my grandson and I bought in the Netherlands seventeen years ago are looking very nice.I wish I had Janet here to do some weeding, lol Have a great day John. GG

  6. Oh, Welsh poppies always reminds me of my Dad. They had so many in their garden, he used to pull them up and pull off the seed heads. I usually have just one, solitary poppy, despite scattering the seeds everywhere.😥 Your garden looks delightful. Exactly what a country cottage garden should look like. xx

For some reason I couldn’t write a post yesterday. I love your blog and like many others look forward to it. Was delighted that you had bought guides for Barcelona and Rome. Your garden always looks wonderful. Enjoy the Eurovision. Keep on being who you are, cos it’s whom we all love, noreen

Your garden is lovely! We have had more rain than usual in Austin and everything is lush and blooming. Makes my heart sing! I enjoy while I can as the heat of summer and no rain will soon be the norm! Night shift always made me feel out of my step with my body for a day or two afterwards. Enjoy your Saturday evening, sounds delightful! Rita

  10. We went to the garden center yesterday and loaded up on flowers and vegetable plants. The hummingbirds have returned and I am finally able to spend hours on the deck drinking coffee and reading. Life is very good.

What a delightful garden for you and the family to enjoy!
Hope your night shifts are calm and quiet and that the Eurovision party is a blask (in a happy, good way).

Hugs! - Oh, and am glad that Mary is no longer nearly as stinky!

  15. It's great to see that spring is springing! I love those Welsh poppies. We don't have any in our garden but one of our neighbors has quite a few. I should plant some.

  17. Lovely garden with loads of potential.

Glad you'll also be watching Eurovision. I've now seen all the contestants' videos, even those who didn't make it past the first semi - and have now got four overall favourites where I hope one of them will take the crown, though when an entry which I like actually wins is a rare event indeed. I'll watch the second semi tonight and, of course, the big one on Sat night when I'll be thinking of you.

    A lovely garden John
My garden feels bitter sweet this year . Tony loves his garden and it breaks my heart that he is not here to enjoy it .

I love your clematis especially; I had no luck when I planted that variety and enjoy seeing yours. Plus, I wondered if you ever got the tiny little goat tattoo? I keep looking, hoping to see that you did. -cheri in urbana IL

  22. Perhaps I have become a grumpy old man but I detest "Eurovision" - mostly because every one of the songs it has ever spawned has been rubbish in my humble opinion and that includes "Waterloo" and "Puppet on a String". Awful.

  23. Your garden looks beautiful. We have just moved into a new rental. No garden to speak of but quite a few pots moved with us thank goodness. Here in South Oz it is cold and damp. Moving in to autumn.
