Thank fuck for that ….covid neg today.
I was out minutes after the swab and with my friend Colin in Liverpool within an hour where I soaked up my weight watchers extra points on a fab Lebanese lunch ( no pud)
It’s so nice to sit in a window of a nice cafe and talk and eat and talk more.
We gossiped like old ladies do in Central Park on a Sunday.
Towards the end of lunch Colin turned to me and said
“ Do you know what, I really fancy going to Venice for a few days do you want to come?”
I said yes before he could take another slurp of his foul mudammas
How good is that ?
Brilliant! Now let's hope the travel arrangements go smoothly
ReplyDeleteEven I can’t be THAT unlucky ?
DeleteI hope not! Enjoy the trip.
DeleteI will ,,I sooooo will
DeleteI can see anon getting ready to spit some venom as I type! I think it's brilliant that you have such impulsive friends and you are willing to take them up on such fantastic offers. Enjoy! xx
ReplyDeleteLol, I shall be almost disappointed if the old sow doesn’t turn up
DeleteDelighted you are well and look forward to hearing more on your trip to Venice. Good friends are irreplaceable and great to have. Noreen
ReplyDeleteThis year I’m making the most of them x
DeletePlease take lots of pics...( Rall ) A video of you singing in Italian on a Gondola would be good:)
ReplyDeleteI’d better lose weight as planned or the bloody thing will be filmed gently sinking
DeleteHow brilliant! Hope your energy post covid is restored in time for this jaunt and that, as always, the planes, trains, and automobiles all run on schedule.
ReplyDeleteHappy hugs that your covid negative, too!
Let’s hope all the plans will be realised ehXx
DeleteExcellent (on Venice and negative result) xx
ReplyDeleteI want to arrive by rail in the day time
DeleteA romantic jaunt? Venice is known for romance.
ReplyDeleteNo we are good friends lol
DeleteSpontaneous travel plans -- so fun!
ReplyDeleteI’m so learning just to say yes…..very Aldo Annie
DeleteLebby food is fab. Had a wonderful two week holiday in Lebanon several years back - incredible food and wonderful sights. My big regret we didn’t go to Damascus…my Lebby friend said “it will be there for next time”…it isn’t.
ReplyDeleteVenice is a fabulous city. We rented an apartment for a week. Shopped at the Rialto market and had Prosecco on the roof top terrace of the apartment - wonderful.
We spent more on glass than the rest of the holiday.
Oh that sounds marvellous
DeleteThat all sounds rather good.
ReplyDeleteThat food looks pretty good too.
The food was superb the only meal I’ve had today
DeleteThis year has all the promise of a good year for you John x 🌻
ReplyDeleteI’ve decided that I am responsible for my happiness flis, no one else
DeleteLunch looks marvelous and very tasty! Glad to hear you've tested negative for Covid and hope you continue to take it slowly & gently as you fully recover. Venice sounds like a wonderful trip! Enjoy the incredible sights, sounds, food, and all-around beauty of Venice!
ReplyDeleteIt will be another first for me , three firsts in a row
DeleteBrilliant - one of my very favourite places. Lucky you! Glad the covid was negative.
ReplyDeleteI so needed to get out today x
DeleteThat is good, but then I think your whole life is good.
ReplyDeleteIt’s getting tgere
DeleteYou're on a roll, making up for last year. Have you been to Venice before? I'm so glad that Covid didn't last long this time.
ReplyDeleteNo never been , it’s on the bucket list
DeleteTHAT is the way to live!
ReplyDeleteLol now I have to pay for it gulp lol
DeleteExcellent day it is today! Venice travel plans, Covid negative and an outstanding meal with Colin. You are on a roll.
ReplyDeleteI do feel I am ….it’s a bit scary x
DeleteSounds like a very good day.
ReplyDeleteMeeting with a friend all good
DeleteSounds like you have a wonderful summer planned.
ReplyDeleteI think I have
DeleteHappy to hear Covid has left you and you are on a roll. Get yourself lost in Venice, its a great place to walk the back streets..never say no to a friend, you never know where it will take you.
ReplyDeleteThat I’ve learnt this year
DeleteAnd he says he has never got enough money !
ReplyDeleteAnd there she blows!!!!!!!!!
DeleteHH YOU WERE RIGHT
DeleteCurious…you say “she”. Just interested in why you say that. I have been inappropriately identified as she on another blog, so just curious.
DeleteMy trolls are all female x
DeleteNo man would waste his time on me
DeleteI too wondered why you said "she" is there a particular way of writing that differentiates between males and females?
DeleteIf so which am I? Obviously I'll not sign in with my name!
Oh just a thought is the dreaded Ursula still around?
Told you! I knew they wouldn't be able to stop themselves. It's such a shame they've nothing better to do with their time (like planning some fantastic trips, lol) xx
DeleteHH I was just thinking the same as you and there she appears lol. Can't help themselves I think. Oh how sad to be so bitter.
DeleteJo in Auckland
happy hooker there's also the poossibility it's someone who is housebound or poor (or both)and unable to travel on "fantastic trips"
DeleteWe don't all have the surplus finances that John has. (no offence meant there john)
They may be poor or housebound or any number of reasons why they can't travel, but that's no excuse for nastiness. That's all I meant.
DeleteCareful, you might fall in love with as well as in Venice and never want to leave (read '1000 days in Venice')! It's a magical place ..
ReplyDeleteI will……… I know I’m being frivolous this year and I know I need to finance the trips , but this year it’s important that I do each of the three trips planned
DeleteSo important
I don't think anyone regrets self care, but later I think people regret "I should have, I could have". It is good to Seize the Day and Live to the Fullest!
DeleteGood for you John!!!

Venice was my favorite place when I visited Italy with my daughter. Glad you are feeling better and making plans!
ReplyDeleteI loved Venencia, been there several times. We stayed on Lido Is, a 10 min. ferry taxi ride away, quiet and less expensive, and better lodging for the euro. Enjoy, it's one of my favorite places.
ReplyDeleteVenezia, sorry
DeleteHow great is that? Nothing like traveling with a good friend and conversationist. I hope to get to Italy myself this summer.
ReplyDeleteThat all sounds great, John! Venice would be a dream destination for me!
ReplyDeleteCheers for the negative test and the travel plans - you can always economize some place else, travel is a boon to the mind and spirit, and very important!
ReplyDeleteCeci
Covid negative, lunch with a friend, Venice! What a day you have had!
ReplyDeleteYay glad the dreaded lurgy has departed. Yay for another planned trip away. Venice... what a place ....never been but always wanted to. Although I am not really a traveller there are a few places I wish I could have got to, Venice, India, Greece are 3 that spring to mind.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
What a fab day you had! Lovely that you were able to get out with your friend and now have another trip planned :) You are grabbing life by the shoulders. I hope there will be plenty of photos for us all to enjoy, I hope to go to Italy one day too. Onwards and upwards eh. Sharon x
ReplyDeleteMy oldest was there last week. He spent a couple of days in Venice, and the rest of the week in Florence. Need I say; he loved it.
ReplyDeleteIf it was someone other than you I'd be saying "...and NO pissing in the canals!" But as it IS you I'll not make the comment - and save it for anyone going to Amsterdam.
ReplyDeleteExcellent advice. Not only for Amsterdam but for all of NL (drowned men with fly open occurs regularly.) Glad you are well again, John.
DeleteI would love to have a friend invite me to go to Venice with them! Enjoy your trip with Colin. x
ReplyDeleteSounds fun. Take your wellies.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful and so exciting! I think we are absolutely responsible for our own happiness. Hope you have the best time and create precious memories. Italy is my favourite place for that!
ReplyDeleteI think it's brilliant that you are saying yes, yes yes, to all offers of joining in on holidays and outings. What a great mindset to have. Glad you are once again Covid free and able to escape the confines.
ReplyDeleteGosh your anonymous trolls are annoying, I'm glad you can ignore them. Enjoy your weekend. xx
An Amazing city, splurge on an overpriced drink in St Marks Square, and soak up being there.
ReplyDeleteThat food looks deeeelish!!! Venice!!! Absolutely. Beautiful, beautiful place and you will fall in love! Good for you, John. Seize the day and hope even more travelling opportunities come your way this year. Here's to a hood one and make the most. Louise X
ReplyDeleteThe grub looks nice. Will you be riding on a gondola?
ReplyDeleteGood for you John, another break booked.
ReplyDeleteAmazing Venice - you will love that beautiful city! I hope to go again some day. I always encourage anyone heading to Italy to put Venice and Florence at the top of their list!
ReplyDeleteMary -
Exciting! A worthy destination for sure. I was just reading about the new tide barriers they've erected at the entrance to the lagoon to keep the high tides and street flooding at bay. They're working!
