Friday

I met my friend Faisal for coffee this morning.
He was, you may recall at the first LGBTQ book club a few months ago.
He is the politest man I’ve ever met and soon will be moving back to his family home abroad, where he will help with the family business which is a garage and convenience store. He is in his forties and not out to his family.
I like him. He speaks carefully and with much thought and never rushes an answer, which is always considered and balanced.
He’s never had a boyfriend, but seems not to mind this fact explaining he has only been out with his friends for just under a year.
We have lunch from the Thai on Thai and I was made up as the owner came over as were were eating to tell me how good my technique with my chopsticks was. I was eating rice traditionally with the bowl up to my mouth and she gave me a toothy thumbs up which really made my day
It’s funny that I’m so clumsy with eating my food using a knife , fork and spoon but give me a pair of chopsticks and Im a wizz…..

This afternoon I took Roger to the groomer and he’s looking mighty fine when returned

Just after we got home I got some beautiful roses delivered.
A surprise gift from Nu
She does this from time to time

  2. I can't begin to imagine what it feels like to not be oneself, especially to family. I'm glad Faisal has made a friend in you. I hope that friendship lasts over time and distance. Roger looks even cuter now! Beautiful roses. Do they have a scent? I've noticed that many roses bred for cutting don't. I love the smell of roses. Always reminds me of my Nana for some reason. xx

How can you afford all these meals out when you are always complaining about having no money!

Just kidding, thought I’d get it in before dearest Anon.

    I rather fancy Faisal!

    Virtual hugs to Albert.

I hope all goes well with Faisal's plans and that he is safe in his home country. It's good he has you as a friend, too.Lovely ruses from Nu, too!

  7. Faisal sounds like a darling man; so sad that he cannot be himself around his family and I suspect his countrymen in his own country. I hope his return home is welcoming and a smooth return. Look at Roger what a spiffing hair cut, he's such a cutie I love his sparkly eyes. Those roses are a dream, what a nice thing for Nu to do, I hope they last a while; are they as perfumed as they look?

  10. I have always hated the fact that some gay people are afraid to come out although I understand some of the reasons it can be so hard. I do not even pretend to know what it's truly like though, either in or out.

  11. All in all, sounds like a great day! And yes, it is SO much easier to eat with chopsticks by raising the bowl in what you've termed "the traditional manner." A real lightbulb went off when I figured that out too, LOL!

  15. I wish I could eat with chopsticks. Will keep trying as am sure I'm going about it the wrong way.

    Roger is a handsome boy!

  16. Faisal never had a boyfriend? I know the feeling precisely. I'd have said that he and I ought to meet were it not that he, being in his forties, I'd surely be called out as a baby-snatcher!

Roger - such a handsome doggie. Fully deserves a good pampering.

Roger is a darling and I can't resist a rubbish stealing dog which is lucky because I've had a few of them :)
Hopefully the covid won't leave any slow departing symptoms

  19. I am so slow with chopsticks it embarrasses me. Roger's trim looks better than mine, but then he's so much better looking to begin with. The roses are beautiful.

My dog gets a bath at the groomers once a month and it always seems to happen on a rainy day. She comes home sweet smelling, goes directly to the backyard for a wee and comes back in with muddy paws at the very least. She usually has a roll in the grass also. So much for the nice looking, nice smelling dog for another month. Why do dogs love smelling bad? I do love her regardless..GG. She would love your Roger.

A friend and I once decided that we'd do better on our diet if we ate everything with chopsticks, because it would cause us to slow down. So we tried it. Unfortunately, we both got really good using chopsticks and gained weight! Go Figure! Karren from the US

  26. I just cannot master chopsticks, but I'm a whizz with a knife and fork ... hence me putting on weight. ;-)
