I wonder whether Gop Hill has a bit of history as you mention how it "stands guard" over the village. From the Middle Ages maybe? Been watching Alice Roberts on tv lately and it's so interesting.

The man-made mound on top of Gop Hill is neolithic.

ReplyDeleteI should have gone up Gop Hill while I was there. Missed the chance, too quick to move on.
ReplyDeleteOval in form, Gop Hill is the second-largest neolithic mound in Britain after Silbury Hill, in Wiltshire.
