Jennifer Aldridge died rather fittingly with a glass of Prosecco in her hand and her sister, Lilian by her side, but all rather strangely this happened off screen as her son Adam burnt the carrots for a family dinner, and husband Brian shared a cheese cracker with Justin Elliot .
I was so surprised I had to stop the car on the Promenade in order to listen
Angela Piper has played Jennifer since 1963
A year after I was born
Jennifer always reminded me of my sister Ann in a way.
A fierce mother, a community stalwart, popular , and funny
She visited me today with lilies and iris for the village pond
And left on the patio table was homemade marmalade , cheese and chutney
It’s nice to be looked after
Not a clue what this is - a soap opera on the television perhaps? Someone in the village who acts?
ReplyDeleteAhhhh...had to Google it....The Archers!! lol. All sounded very random! Louise X
ReplyDeleteYou look alike
ReplyDeleteWhat an oddcomment
DeleteActually I, a different Anonymous, can see the resemblance. Imagine a wig is being worn.
DeleteWell, and the beard shaved off and... oh, maybe nothing to see at all really, but I see it
DeleteFor fucks sake that’s ridiculous
DeleteNever did take a teasing - sense of humour bypass when in that direction
DeleteHe makes the rules Anon. Most people comply.
DeleteOne of the rules is that people can comment. What's your problem?
DeleteLet me settle this. John is the absolute spitting image of Jennifer Aldridge.
DeleteI half-listen to the Archers when my husband, who's an avid fan, has it on. Another funeral in Ambridge. RIP Jennifer. xx
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is nigh time to replace "The Archers" with "Trelawnyd" - an ongoing story of everyday life in a village in North Wales starring Saffron Burrows as Joyce Trellis and Russell Crowe as John Gray.
ReplyDeleteSaffron burrows how delightfully random
DeleteYep, l knew last night. Feeling funny all day about this. Mortality always hits us when somebody we grew up with goes. Not quite weepy, like George, Bowie, or Freddie, but sad at the news and shift in lifes mortality. Listening toTA on the wireless! always makes me feel close to my beloved father, we listened together and although l lost him when l was 11, l always feel that we are sharing TA together still. Tess x
ReplyDeleteYes tess . I seem to mirroe your mood
DeleteHad to Google this "Archers". Did the character die or the actress?
ReplyDeleteThe character
DeleteYou added about your sister Ann, she sounds delightful. You have a wonderful family. Chutney, cheese, marmalade, perfect. Maybe bake some bread tomorrow?
DeleteMy sympathy to all who enjoyed her performances.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
It's the character who died not the actress!
DeleteHugs anyway.
DeletePlants for the pond and delectable delicacies to pepper your appetite sounds very thoughtful and generous; your sister is taking good care of you.
ReplyDeleteI was shocked to hear the episode last night and tonight Brian isn’t coping at all. I’d have loved to be invited to one of her dinner parties, no chance now,

Eh, it's a story. All made up.
DeleteYou are hugely blessed with the gifts people seem compelled to shower on you. You're so well loved
ReplyDeleteI gave up on the Archers when they sent Nigel off the roof!
ReplyDeleteHomemade marmalade, chutney and cheese - How lovely x🧀🍞🍇🍊
ReplyDeleteNext you'll be telling me that Walter Gabriel has died.
ReplyDeleteOoh no Cro don't say that, we would never get over the shock and grief!
DeleteYour sister Ann is a treasure!
