I took the iris and lilies my sister donated to the TCA down to the pond this morning and submerged them in a space I found beyond the little jetty.
I checked with Nick who was one of the TCA that spearheaded the pond if I had done ok then came back home to shower all of the dogs, all of whom had acquired a real doggy pong.
Not surprisingly it was taking a neighbour to Dyserth for a doctor appointment that sealed their showers, the neighbour opened the passenger door window and poked a nose through when they thought I wasn’t looking.
I’ve been washing bedding and throws all morning.
Tuesdays , I’m in college 6pm until 9 but will get the library early to catch up on my workbooks and journal.
I’m tired, as my rhythms are all out after nights
Just imagine how pretty this is going to be once established for a time. What a wonderful village project.
ReplyDeleteI can’t wait to see it in summer
DeleteSorry to be a pooper but I wondered if there is a be aware of the danger of water notice x
ReplyDeleteYep - that's a pooper speaking....
DeleteHealth and safety rears it’s head even in Trelawnyd, we have a sign and a float ring
DeleteGreat - I was in a shady woodland running after my dogs and was shocked to see a large pond ahead of us - I remember seeing a rowing boat and life ring there too x
DeleteIt's a village pond flis not Lake Windermere. I don't think there'll be a rowing boat!
Deletethis was a secluded woodland pond - public rarely visit 🐿🐾
DeleteWhat a brilliant village project and nice that you can add to it.
ReplyDeleteWe do become a bit 'nose blind' to quote a certain advert (that incidentally drives me mad), to the smells that our dogs naturally give off, especially at this damp time of year. I'm trying to be very careful to air the place regularly since I lost my sense of smell. There have been no complaints ... up to now!!
Sometimes I get a whiff of my living room and boy am I ashamed …out comes the carpet cleaner filled with lemon water
DeleteDogs always think they smell wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSo do i
DeleteThe TCA are doing a grand job, one that will benefit the village for years to come. I remember working nights and how it really buggered up my metabolism. Look after yourself - you're not as young as you once were! Three fragrant dogs, and fresh smelling throws. Lovely! xx
ReplyDeleteDorothy loves a shower, she now smells of lemon
DeleteThe jetty doesnt go over the water
ReplyDeleteIt’s designed that way so the elderly and infirm can look into the pond without getting bogged down
DeleteWhat a busy morning you had with planinting, washing dogs, and washing their bedding! Hope you will take a well deserved nap beoffre going to the library and the college classes. I, too, well remember the havoc of coming off night shifts. No fun.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
I’ve loved college tonight really interesting work into self awareness , nice to see my college mates
DeleteWhat could be better! Hope you sleep well tonight.
DeleteHugs!
Isn't it a bit early in the year to be planting out?
ReplyDeleteI have no idea , Nick and my sister ann said it would be fine
DeleteI love new wildlife areas and am constantly amazed at how soon they are used by the insects and creatures . Such a positive thing to do xx
ReplyDeleteWe have a lovely poster covering local fauna flora , and for the official opening I’ve asked the children young family from Trelawnyd to draw local animals that may be seen
DeleteGood stuff xx
DeleteNothing smells quite like a dirty dog. I can smell a dog's paws all day, though -- that toasty Frito smell. It's nice!
ReplyDeleteOlga like Dorothy is short haired so doesn’t long as much as the welsh
DeleteThat pond area looks lovely, well done Trelawnyd.
ReplyDeleteThanks pixie
DeleteThe pond and wetlands will be beautiful this summer. It seems too early to be setting out iris and lilies [submerged??], after all that cold and snow. Did the pond freeze over?
ReplyDeleteGood reminder to air and wash dog bedding!
lizzy
No it’s all gone now , my sister, who is a fantastic gardener , well they both are, says it should be fine
DeleteThis afternoon it was announced that the man who does occasionally was planting replacement raspberry canes into the slowly thawing earth - it is the correct moment x🐒
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
DeleteThat is going to look wonderful when it is all planted in and growing.
ReplyDeleteYes. It’s been sensitively organised so far
DeleteYou and that man look alike, are you related?
ReplyDeleteHa ha, here we go again: him and that woman from the previous post, and John - three peas in a pod... (I await my scolding) ... Serious lack of a sense of humour among some people here though. Still, always worth a look.
DeleteI know , no , Nick is a friend and not a relation, a doppelgänger or a clone
DeleteNights are very difficult, I never coped well doing them. The pond will be superb. I love doggy smells and as an owner I am completely unaware of when they pong until I get a reminder from friends. Enjoy your studies.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed tonight’s johari window lecture
DeleteA non-pet owner once complimented me on the "lovely, light fragrance" I was wearing. My fellow crazy-cat-woman colleague standing beside us managed not to snicker (but only just) until the other lady departed: she knew the scent of a commercial pet-odor killer when she smelled it.
ReplyDeleteThe welsh terriers adore a hot shower and now smell gently of lemons
DeleteEw, dog smell. The one and only drawback. The pond is going to be glorious come spring.
ReplyDeleteI think it will, I’ve notice that Helen has done some very intelligent planting
DeleteThat's a great walkway, a wonderful village project.
ReplyDeleteIt’s sweet isn’t it?
DeleteYes it is now exactly the correct time to plant Iris x 🚜
ReplyDeletealso the lily - perfect timing x 🤸
DeleteYes John knows that flis, if you read the post again you'll see he says he checked with Nick.
DeleteI just double checked with gardener 🙆
DeleteThanks flis
DeleteWhy? John already had the correct information. He really is quite capable of living his own life and running his own blog! Yes - it is his blog although you seem to spend more time on it than he does!
ReplyDelete🏺
DeleteIt wasn’t an important enough post P. To worry about
DeleteWater iris are very beautiful. They will add to the beauty of the pond. A friend gave me some of his water iris and I planted them behind my house near the stream. Oddly, the leaves grow profusely but no flowers.
ReplyDeleteWater Irises really help to keep the water healthy but unfortunately only flower for a short few weeks in Spring....Margaret
ReplyDeleteThe irises will take over and will need a lot of management.
ReplyDeleteSo kind of you driving neighbors to doctor appointments. Lucky residents of your village to have such a good heart to help them.
