Planting Out

I took the iris and lilies my sister donated to the TCA down to the pond this morning and submerged them in a space I found beyond the little jetty.
I checked with Nick who was one of the TCA that spearheaded the pond if I had done ok then came back home to shower all of the dogs, all of whom had acquired a real doggy pong.
Not surprisingly it was taking a neighbour to Dyserth for a doctor appointment that sealed their showers, the neighbour opened the passenger door window and poked a nose through when they thought I wasn’t looking.
I’ve been washing bedding and throws all morning.
Tuesdays , I’m in college 6pm until 9 but will get the library early to catch up on my workbooks and journal.
I’m tired, as my rhythms  are all out after nights

    3. Great - I was in a shady woodland running after my dogs and was shocked to see a large pond ahead of us - I remember seeing a rowing boat and life ring there too x

It's a village pond flis not Lake Windermere. I don't think there'll be a rowing boat!

  3. What a brilliant village project and nice that you can add to it.
We do become a bit 'nose blind' to quote a certain advert (that incidentally drives me mad), to the smells that our dogs naturally give off, especially at this damp time of year. I'm trying to be very careful to air the place regularly since I lost my sense of smell. There have been no complaints ... up to now!!

  5. The TCA are doing a grand job, one that will benefit the village for years to come. I remember working nights and how it really buggered up my metabolism. Look after yourself - you're not as young as you once were! Three fragrant dogs, and fresh smelling throws. Lovely! xx

  12. The pond and wetlands will be beautiful this summer. It seems too early to be setting out iris and lilies [submerged??], after all that cold and snow. Did the pond freeze over?
Good reminder to air and wash dog bedding!

Ha ha, here we go again: him and that woman from the previous post, and John - three peas in a pod... (I await my scolding) ... Serious lack of a sense of humour among some people here though. Still, always worth a look.

Nights are very difficult, I never coped well doing them. The pond will be superb. I love doggy smells and as an owner I am completely unaware of when they pong until I get a reminder from friends. Enjoy your studies.

  17. A non-pet owner once complimented me on the "lovely, light fragrance" I was wearing. My fellow crazy-cat-woman colleague standing beside us managed not to snicker (but only just) until the other lady departed: she knew the scent of a commercial pet-odor killer when she smelled it.

  22. Water iris are very beautiful. They will add to the beauty of the pond. A friend gave me some of his water iris and I planted them behind my house near the stream. Oddly, the leaves grow profusely but no flowers.

Water Irises really help to keep the water healthy but unfortunately only flower for a short few weeks in Spring....Margaret

The irises will take over and will need a lot of management.

So kind of you driving neighbors to doctor appointments. Lucky residents of your village to have such a good heart to help them.
