I’m working the next four out of five long days ( the hospice is getting the most of me before I go part time in four weeks) so I may not be blogging every day. We are so short staffed, a symptom of post covid too, me thinks ….so many nurses have left nursing after the last two years
In health care masks are still to be worn and it’s playing havoc with my beard which has morphed from being a trimmed goatee to something like Father Christmas would be proud of,
Perhaps I will leave it and wear purple, and shout in the street…..I’m 60 on Wednesday
Wearing masks all the time while nursing must be a nightmare! Especially in the summer too. So many staff leaving has made it so difficult for those left.
ReplyDeleteHope you get through the four days work ok and stay well for your birthday plans.
It hides my face x
DeleteI’m 67 and can attest to the 60s being a great decade! Your beard looks very neat - even if fuller and longer than you prefer. Hope the four day spell passes without incident and that your 60th will be exactly as you’d have hoped it would be!
ReplyDeleteThank you...
DeleteXx
I’m not an anonymous - I’m DesirĂ©e đŸ˜‰
ReplyDeleteAren't we all ?
DeleteBy the time you go part time, you'll feel like a squeezed lemon! Don't let them guilt-trip you into upping your hours again. You deserve a rest. I know you and Janet have some lovely plans for your birthday, so ENJOY! xx
ReplyDeleteNo I've checked today the paperwork has gone in
DeleteAnd wearing a mask means it’s not practical to use beard oil. That must drive you crazy.
ReplyDeleteI've got beard oil but need to use it more ...I'm so not gay sometimes
DeleteI had never even heard of beard oil until a straight friend recommended it. I still didn’t consider it until more than a year later when I was given a full-size free sample while shopping at Rituals.
DeleteI’ve used it in my head hair too
DeleteHead hair? Oh, I remember that.
DeleteYou could dye your beard a fun colour John if you felt a bit daring and carefree approaching 60- I love being in my 60s-it's freeing somehow x
ReplyDeletePushing it a bit lol
DeleteYou and my son are celebrating a birthday on the same date. Date of wonderful people.
ReplyDeleteI agree Yael and my sister of course
DeleteThe beard looks great, wear purple, and a red hat, https://www.scottishpoetrylibrary.org.uk/poem/warning/
ReplyDeleteI'd look like gandalf
DeleteHi,sorry not been on.Had a lot of crap going on these last few months.Just wanted to say,do hope you have a Fantastic Birthday next week.xxx
ReplyDeleteThank u lee
DeleteSometimes wish I was sixty again - more often not, epecially after terrible shooting in Texas. As to being 60 hope you are stil around at 90!
ReplyDelete90 I will never reach xx
DeleteFor purposes of clinical hygiene you may wish to consider shaving off the beard to reveal the pink baby bum cheeks beneath. A mask over a beard leaves tiny gaps through which viruses can leak or be inhaled.
ReplyDeleteIt’s 58 years since I’ve had a baby bum cheek
DeleteDamn. I learnt too late of your birthday to send you something gorgeous. I'd like to say something positive about turning 60, but I cannot.
ReplyDeleteSend it anyway
DeleteI'm so pleased you're getting to go part time soon and you have a new bathroom and your place is your own.
ReplyDeleteThank you kylie
DeleteMake sure you wear the red hat with the purple beard. Catriona
ReplyDeleteDorothy is licking my feet so hard I can’t comment properly
DeleteYou could become a hipster with your beard.
ReplyDeleteOr grow it long and plait it. Lol!
Deletex
Plait your beard?, there would have to be a rule against that. Although it would give the confused patients something to hang on to.
DeleteI’ve shaved it tonight
DeleteHappy early birthday John.
ReplyDeleteThank u deArheart x
DeleteSixties are good, seventies even better. Have a good one.
ReplyDeleteThat makes me feel better that statement x
DeleteGoing part time will be excellent and more balanced with time to pursue your interests. Less grind and more pleasure... A very good start to your 60th.
ReplyDeleteI have a plan
DeleteI've just checked John on my i pad and if you choose to you may dye your beard quite safely with a beetroot-Please don't wear a best Walking Dead t shirt though as it will be stained and spoilt x
ReplyDeleteU mad sod
DeleteIn case I miss getting here Wed., a very Happy Birthday to you dear John. Your beard is lovely looking - is it soft?
ReplyDeleteIf I ever make it to Wales as hoped - but not this year - I hope we can hug and I'll find out, haha!
Mary -
It’s as soft as a rabbits flag
DeleteThank you x
60? You're a pup!! I hope the next five days fly by quickly.
ReplyDeleteThey will
DeleteI worked till 66, then pulled the plug on work and learned to fly airplanes. Have a Happy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteYou star Dave x
DeleteYou're so young! Enjoy yourself!
ReplyDeleteTell my body that x
DeleteWe're still wearing masks when out due to lupus (me) and A-fib (DH) and that will continue for a good while.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the upcoming exhausting wrok schedule.
An early Happy Birthday to you and Janet! You two are still babes in the woods!
Hugs!
I’ll let Janet know we are babes , thanks Babs
DeleteI do so love a man with a beard.
ReplyDeleteMe too
DeleteI was 62 yesterday, also a Wednesday, so my birthday is the week before yours. I can't really believe I am in my sixties though. I am sure you will have an amazing birthday.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday carol…..I’m working all day on my birthday , I wanted the weekend free before I go away
DeleteES and MD are both student nurses. MD qualifies in September and it has been hard work to keep her in Uni as she worked on a COVID ward and in my opinion she has PTSD but Uni refuse to offer them counselling and nearly 60% of her year have quit, But bless her she has powered through and is on course for a 2:1 and has a job on Community.
ReplyDeleteAs for the beard how are you managing to keep facial fluff on and not spontaneously combust? PPE is so warm!!
Lesley
Many nurses , especially ones I know on ITU May have experienced PTSD having said this many people I know may have suffered from it
DeleteVery becoming dear sir. Soft looking. A good feel.
ReplyDelete60 is a mere whistle in the wind. But happy birthday.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful birthday..may you live as long as want and have more joy than you can ever need.
ReplyDeleteLove the speckled beard, wearing a mask must make you itch like crazy; when I wear one my face sweats terribly and that's without a beard! I turned 60 in February...not a lot changes but I do notice more and more my legs and hips feeling stiff in the mornings. I hope you have a fabulous day even though you are working... and Janet of course too x
