Back To Work

With all of the Eurovision hype I had the urge to have some sort of online friend meet up last night.
I wanted to laugh a bit.
It didn’t work out, which I was sort of thankful for as I’m working today and although Eurovision probably didn’t finish until midnight I did dip in briefly
I watched the stupendously dreadful disaster movie Moonfall instead.
That was two hours I would never get back .
It left me feeling fed up
It’s been that sort of covid positive then negative shitty week.
I’ve revisited lockdown with all of those horrid isolated connotations

I’m sat at the kitchen table with my bucket of coffee.
It’s 5.45 am
My GP rang me on Friday and asked me to stop my long term antibiotics
I refused as I’m still waiting review by my urologist but he insisted that he at least change them to a different type. Which he did
Subsequently I have the start of a urine infection this morning

  1. Oh no, I'm sorry about the UT. I hope all goes well back at work. Going back to work after being off a while always made me feel like it was my first day of school after summer. If you are feeling down just think about that new kitchen that you will soon have completed!

  2. Oh dear! I hope the UTI can be got quickly under control. Maybe being back at work will make you feel less shitty - at least it's a bit of normality for you, and you can share your woes with work colleagues. I hope they're sympathetic! Sending hugs, John, I think you need them today. xx

Amateur advice based on some experience; when taking antibiotics for a urinary infection, flood yourself by drinking lots and lots of water. The combination may well clear things quickly.

  6. Dear john, sounds to me that you could have IC (Interstitial cystitis) have you tried D-Mannose. IC is at the top of the most painful diseases and known as the suicide disease, sorry as no cure as yet but being on long term antibiotics can help but will wreck your immune system. Sending love and healing tughts to you xx

  7. I thought it was the law that all gay people had to watch "Eurovision" from beginning to end. Funny how you get these daft ideas in your head. Having an on-going urine infection is concerning. Aren't antibiotics meant to clear up infections?

  8. Take care of yourself. The week away, in a place that has the plague largely under control, felt so like life returning. I needed that.

  12. Should your GP send you to a specialist about your chronic urinary tract infections? I would want to have the situation checked out by a specialist.

If you read John's post you'll see he said he's waiting to be seen by a urologist - that's a specialist.

The comment was to Debra and not to you flis. Mind your own business instead of jumping in and interfering all the time.

If the GP only asked you to change antibiotics on Friday then is it likely that you would have a urine infection by Sunday? Due to the half life of antibiotics they'll still be in your system.
Not all antibiotics are suitable to be taken long term so your GP is right to be cautious..

  14. Wouldn't you know. Covid problem solved and the UTI returns. I always try whatever my doc recommends, often given no choice, but I always have my own backup plan. I hope you have some of the antibiotic that works. Hopefully the Urologist will have a solution.

  15. Hopefully the infection hasn't come back that fast. You're still on antibiotics, right -- just different ones?

I'm weirdly tempted to try "Moonfall" despite your review. It couldn't be worse than "How It Ends" with Forest Whitaker, which we watched last week, and I like Patrick Wilson!

Bother! Why on earth would your doctor change a medicaion that's working when your just ovre covid and your immune system is likely at a low ebb?? Methinks you should go back on your former med, but I'm no doctor.
Drink lots of water as you work!

    Hugs!

  17. A point of good...this lockdown didn't last two years and you had some of that good '80's music serenaded to you, so you weren't ever alone. :) Hugs, kiddo.

  18. UTI's are the pits, I was plagued with them in my 20's and 30's. Sorry yours is on the way back. Cranberry juice maybe?? Or lemon juice in water... just drink with a straw to avoid wrecking the enamel on your teeth. Hope the Urology appointment is soon.

UTIs can sometimes be caused by failure of the bladder to completely empty, And that could possibly be caused by an enlarged prostate. There are meds for that, and making sure to relieve yourself as often as possible, try even if the urge isn't there. Good luck!!
