My circadian rhythms are shot to hell. I’m back on nights on Wednesday and I felt jet lagged most of yesterday. This morning I’ve taken a leaf out of Rachel’s books and got a cancellation appointment with a masseuse at a local sports club. I rang at 8.30 and was being pummelled on a couch with my head in a hole by 9 am. How wonderful was that?
I feel so much more alive and emotionally stable afterward a bit of hands on therapy. The masseuse told me that flip flopping shift work at my age is dangerous , which isn’t quite the news I wanted to hear this morning, but I have booked another session next week after my next bout of nights.
I’ve just walked the dogs ( above video) and I’m off to deliver a cooked dinner to a friend whose having an exceptionally hard time at the moment .
Oh I did break wind during the massage , very loudly too, but I was too relaxed to care
I love the way that Dorothy shoots on ahead, then turns watching you as you catch up then sets off again once she had made 'contact' - we had a collie that did that - reassuring both herself and us.
ReplyDeleteYes that’s her normal behaviour, she also weaves in front so that she can keep one eye on me at all times
DeleteI love how she stops and waits patiently for you to catch up!
ReplyDeleteThe varying shifts sound grueling. I don't think that I could do it, myself.
I don’t mean to moan but it is like having jet lag once a week
DeleteWithout the joy of the journey!
DeleteSo ALL muscles were relaxed, then! Darling Dorothy, she'll never stray too far from you. Swapping from nights to days, really does bugger up your metabolism. You really do need to find a job with better hours, and preferably better pay, too. Wish I knew of one for you. xx
ReplyDeleteI’m happy in my work , I’m just having a moan
DeleteI have been getting a monthly massage. They are wonderful, but getting expensive since covid.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was expensive but it worth it my friend
DeleteDorothy is meant to follow a yellow brick road, not a grey tarmacadam lane.
ReplyDeleteShe forgot her ruby slippers too
DeleteSarah Millican has a hilarious stand-up routine on going for a massage on YouTube. And yes it does feature breaking wind.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrtjXyVcznk
DeleteNext time on booking an appointment John perhaps you could enquire whether a warm oil massage by a hunky man with firm hands may be possible x
ReplyDeleteNo flis
DeleteYou have made Dorothy a very happy girl John-it's lovely that she doesn't stray far-My terrier who I adopted 3 and a half years ago who looks very similar to your Mary still can't be trusted off lead and toilets indoors at night bless him x
ReplyDeleteWelsh terriers do not do as they are told .
DeleteMary , out of all of mine is the best behaved , but still she can get annoyed with a passing dog , right out of the blue
Mine is very naughty-I had 4 private lessons and then 12 one to ones(1hr sessions) with the dogs home-but sadly still wears a muzzle and a lead attached around my waist as he's very chatty(his vet says) x
DeleteTerriers are not obedient dogs that’s the 4ulev
DeleteMassage is wonderful, I too, am a big fan. Working nights definitely causes havoc. With employers seeking personnel everywhere, now is the time to line up your ideal day job. Many offer sign-in bonuses too.
ReplyDeleteI’ve been a nurse all my life ,,,, I need to sort out my counsell8ng very soon
DeleteMay I correct you there-anon-You are very wrong-as We All Love John Gray x
ReplyDeleteI didn5 delete a comment flis, what happened to the anon comment, I have no idea
DeleteAll's well that ends well x
DeleteIndeed x
DeleteHear, hear, flis. xx
ReplyDeleteAm I missing something? , I see no anon message
DeleteThought you'd deleted it, John. The usual, sad comment. I know you ignore them, but sometimes we can't! xx
DeleteNo I didn’t delete anything
DeleteMaybe Anon finally got a conscience and deleted it him/herself. Miracles do happen! xx
DeleteLet’s hope so
DeleteLove the video and your deep, soothing narrative. Dorothy is confident that you and Mary will surely follow her.
ReplyDeleteHow very kind of your to provide a delicious meal to your struggling friend.
After the one massage I've had, I felt strongly that I should have been delivered back to my home as I was as relaxed as a noodle. Walking? No way.
Hugs!
Yes, and with confidence has come friendliness to other dogs and people, both she now greets politely
DeleteApplause and cuddles for Dorothy because is continuing to learn to be a happy, friendly dog. You and the pack have patiently worked wonders, John, and Dorothy's life is much more wonderful and calm now.
DeleteHugs!
I try to get a massage once or twice a season, but with the pandemic, that has not happened like it usually does. But a good massage dies the body and mind a world of good.
ReplyDeleteYes, I felt quite emotional after it , which is normal
DeleteI’ve been very dehydrated too and have drunk loads this afternoon
I have never had a professional massage. I think I’d like it now... except for the risk of farting.
ReplyDeleteI only had a back, neck and head massage today, that’s enough fir me . The legs , I feel a bit invasive
DeleteWell, that makes me feel a bit better about myself. SG likes the works, but it’s just a bit too personal for me.
DeleteThat's why they use all those fragrant oils!
ReplyDeleteAnd he had a mask on
DeleteI don't expect it is the first time it has happened to the masseur. Keep up those massages.
ReplyDeleteI called him a masseuse which was another faux pas
DeleteWould love to have a massage. It sounds so relaxing.
