Soup spoons

Bit of a crappy day at work
Came home and no post in the box by the front door ( I was expecting some old essays to be posted back to me)
Disappointed they were not there.
I sat with my hoodie on as tge cottage warmed up, with the dogs on my knee
A neighbour brought around a parcel at 9 pm
It had been left by the postman
Four beautifully home made ceramic soup spoons, which I had ordered an age ago now
I was too tired to make soup to try them out
So ate some tinned low fat custard
Using each spoon in turn to try each one out
Eaten from the tin

  1. Jings they look nice. I think that ours are Ikea's cheapest (and the soup will likely be a Tesco's own brand tin). Maybe I should go a bit mad and buy something spontaneously tomorrow, like a... Can't think of anything,... will settle for an unusually expensive beer in a fancy bottle that I can then rinse and call an ornament.

  2. Sounds like a weary day. Sometimes you have to resort to opening a tin of something - although I might baulk at low fat custard.Hope it's a better day tomorrow for you.

Lovely spoons and hope they work well for soup. How delightful to treat yourself to useful and attractive utensils. Tis soup weather now and in the coming months so they'll see lots of use.
Perhaps put something yummy in the slow cooker so it's ready to eat when you get home from work tomorrow?
Wishing you and the family restful and restorative night's sleep. For you, a calm and peaceful work shift.

    Hugs!

  4. The spoons are really nice and they came at just the right time. A package delivery on what was not the greatest day at work makes all the difference. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Much needed class? What an insult! John already has an abundance of class.

  7. They remind me of medieval/Chinese-sometimes I think it's necessary to eat that way to survive and at least you ate with style-occasionally I have to eat food with my fingers-my mum would not be pleased but it can't be helped x

  8. They look lovely. You will soon enough honor them with a good soup that you make.

  9. Tut-tut! You shouldn't be using soup spoons to eat custard - you should be using custard spoons instead! The clue is in the name.

  10. Beautiful spoons. My word, you do have an eye for classy things! Christening them with custard, straight from the tin, sounds a perfect antidote to a crappy day. Sweet dreams and hoping tomorrow is kinder to you. xx

    1. Jo, I did a quick instagram search and found that there are very similar ones made in Australia so you might find a local artisan

  18. Those spoons sure are different. Being round. And quite large(?). First thing I thought, and you'll forgive me as you are not averse to bodily sounds, their shape will make for perfect slurping, noisily.
