Back to pottery tonight.
I’m the only one not making Christmas decorations
I’m making a selection of spoons
The camp instructor clapped his hands joyfully when I told him
“ I love spooning ! “ he chirped
Suitably I made soup for supper on this cold night
Smoked bacon and butter bean soup with a hint of chilli
Bloody lovely .
The dogs and Albert are all on the couch with me watching The Repair Shop
I like the idea of making spoons but I am surprised you aren't making a Christmas decoration knowing your love for them.
ReplyDeleteYes I ve bought some today , but those are for my friends in Australia and Derbyshire
DeleteThe spoons , I wanted ready for potential gifts
"I love spooning" sounds like an invitation to me...
ReplyDeleteAnd for another new source of income: "Quirky Pottery from Trelawnyd - A Dali-esque take on household items as perfect symmetry is boring. Paypal and credit cards accepted but cash at the door preferred." Mind you, if you started to raffle such objects on your blog you would probably end up minted, knowing what I think I know about the characters who visit here.
It could sponsor my counselling lol
Deletethat's what i should do. i just can't find the pottery spoons i'm looking for. brilliant! can't wait to see them finished.
ReplyDeleteThe glaze I want are variations in green
DeleteMaybe miniature pottery spoon ornaments are next!
ReplyDeleteAnd tree decorations to hand I think
DeleteYeah, screw Christmas decorations!
ReplyDeleteSpoons ARE IN
DeleteScrewed in?
DeleteOh err
DeleteSpoons are more useful than Xmas decorations anyway. I love spooning too, hopefully I can talk Ava into staying the night this Friday!
ReplyDeleteSteady xx
DeleteWhat is it with the Welsh and spoons? I'm not complaining - I like them - but I would like to know the roots.
ReplyDeleteThe roots of love spoons?
DeleteYes.
DeleteGenerally carved in wood over the winter by the suitor, with the design signifying his wishes and thoughts
DeleteI'm booking pottery sessions next year and want to make a soup bowl and spoon after seeing yours
ReplyDeleteOoooo I’m an inspiration x
DeleteYou've always been an inspiration pet. x
DeleteIs he a single dish John?-perhaps you could tempt him by joining a pair of spoons with protrudences for fun-"my saucy spoons" x
ReplyDeleteNo , I prefer my men a bit butch
DeleteI like butch dogs but not butch men x
DeleteYou can’t beat a butch man
DeleteOoo er-and with muscles in all the right places x
DeleteYour soup sounds delicious and hope you used one of your new pottery spoons when it was time to eat!
ReplyDeleteLove the pottery spoons on the work table. Did you make them?
Methinks your quizzical little pottery creatures would sell like hot cakes and I suppose they're easier to make than spoons. Yes?
Hugs!
I made all the spoons on the table
DeleteWell done!
DeleteHugs!

DeleteLove the idea of making your own pottery spoons, looking forward to seeing the finished items :)
ReplyDeleteBtw have you seen the Christmas ad from the Norwegian postal service?
https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2021/11/norwegian-postal-services-gay-themed-christmas-ad-going-viral/?
I love it :) :)
Yes I’m posting the video tomorrow , I downloaded it earlier
DeleteGreat minds xx
Just didn't want you to miss it :)
DeleteThank you ……it was flagged up by my Facebook page x
DeleteChristmas stars are good to make but you have to make a hole to hang them up with, and then make sure you don't end up filling it with glaze because there's no chance of drilling it out once it's fired.
ReplyDeleteGood idea I will make some next week x
DeleteHaha!
ReplyDeleteHo ho
DeleteLove those spoons.
ReplyDeleteYour spoons look very good. What glaze will you choose?
ReplyDeleteA camp instructor? Did he help to erect your tent?
ReplyDeleteIs he handy with a pole John? x
DeleteHi, I really enjoyed reading your post, and hope to read more. thank you so much for sharing this informative blog.

It's probably a bit late to suggest this, but two of my 'most loved' spoons have shapes that match the curve on my soup pot, and therefore are fantastic for dishing up with.
ReplyDeleteI love The Repair Shop; it's wonderful seeing real craftsmen at work. I do think they're a bit heavy on the 'emotion', but it makes for good viewing.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to have a pottery class near by. The spoons are looking good, and the camp instructor sounds fun. Your talents are endless! xx
ReplyDeleteThere must be something so satisfying about making your own spoons and bowl. I love the idea.
ReplyDeleteMake holes in the handles so that they may be hung..either as decorations or on the kitchen wall
ReplyDeleteThe soup sounds devine. Do you have the recipe please? And I love the spoons.
ReplyDeleteIt’s simple
Delete2 tins of butter beans in water,
One chopped onion , softened with garlic under a gentle heat until slightly golden
Half a smoked bacon joint cut up into chunks
Seasoning
Paprika or and a few chilli flakes
One potato to thicken
Thank you x
DeleteWhat a fun idea to make your own spoons! Well done you. They look great. Can't wait to see them glazed.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
