Just having three guests
Fills the cottage
I haven’t had more than one visitor here for a year and a half
and having serious, funny, raucous, and important conversations over dinner and wine
feeds your soul and makes things seem so much nicer than they did before
Yes! I did the same thing last night….xx
ReplyDeleteWhat did you cook?
DeleteGreat stuff!
ReplyDeleteIt was!
DeleteJust lovely!
ReplyDelete😷😀
DeleteDid all manage to keep their trousers on?
ReplyDeleteYes….we did discuss it lol
DeleteTry doing it without wine and see what the difference is.
ReplyDeleteWhat an odd comment
DeleteI was thinking out loud due to an experience in the summer with a friend who is no longer drinking, It changed the complex of social gatherings. Nothing sinister meant in the comment.
DeleteOr maybe LSD?!
DeleteI did have a hangover this morning
DeleteAs I understand it you may need salt, sugar and water now(electorites?)x
DeleteRachel does raise an interesting concept.
DeleteImagine you were stranded on a desert island, and all those crates of wine, whiskey, beer (indeed Noilly Prat) on board, whatever your delicious poison and oblivion had been swept away along with the ship and the tide.
Brilliant. Now you don't so much look yourself in the face (you lost your mirror too) as into your soul. No, forget the soul. Your body is screaming at you.
Naturally, and I am sure Tom has something to contribute here, it's shite going Cold Turkey. Spiders will come at you and your mother. The latter, I hasten to add, to come to your rescue. LEAVE ME ALONE, you shout.
As to my credentials, my first husband, he was peace reincarnated, did WORK (he wasn't an inmate) in Rehab (drugs). Dear dog in heaven, John. I was only twenty. I baked them cakes.
Back to the subject rather than my diving into my treasure trove of unwanted reminiscences, and I wouldn't be me if I didn't find something to make someone think: At your age you shouldn't suffer hangovers. I am not funny here. It's not a reprimand. It's a fact: At your age you shouldn't suffer a hangover. I'd love to elaborate on this but then ... Anyway, nothing that paracetamol laced with codeine can't cure. Short of hair of the dog. No not William or Winnie.
Great you had a good evening.
Hugs and kisses, and no I am not drunk other than on the joy of life,
U
John, my dear, I also nursed a hangover today but every ouch was worth it. It was a brilliant night and you are a WONDERFUL cook. xxx
DeleteThank you mimi and it was lovely to see you and dear Pash xx
DeleteWot fun your must have had.
ReplyDeleteIt was…it reminded me of the audience reaction in FAR FROM AWAY
DeleteWe were hungry for the supper ( emotionally rather than physically)
Lovely that the evening went well with "My People" - as pictured previously in the sidebar.
ReplyDeleteYes. It lovely to catch up
DeleteAn evening delight-a soiree no riff raff allowed x
ReplyDeleteNo riff raff
DeleteThe first of many such evenings, I hope. xx
ReplyDeleteA start ….perhaps yes
DeleteWonderful. x
ReplyDeleteSuitably blurred.
ReplyDeleteIt got even more blurred
DeleteMy...what big wine glasses you have...
ReplyDeleteIt looks like everyone there enjoyed it every bit as much as you did.
4.50£ each Sainsbury’s
DeleteThe good food and the wine just gets everyone relaxed and talkative! Not a damn thing wrong with that!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are feeling well enough to throw that little get-together!
I wasn’t going to miss that , urine infection or not
DeleteSomehow a dinner party over Zoom, just isn't the same.
ReplyDeleteWe appreciate now what once we just took for granted.
ReplyDeleteI think you are so right x
DeleteHow sweet it was and am glad all had such a good time together again - at last!
ReplyDeleteWas William's contribution to the upstairs wall discussed? If so, what ideas were voiced?
Enjoy today and hope you're feeling 100% great.
Hugs!
No one mentioned the botty stains
Deletei desperately need a party. it won't be happening for a while though. glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteWondered several times during the evening how it was going. Hope you also catch up on Strictly and have the tissues handy for the last dancers.
ReplyDeleteI will have a look pat x
DeleteSounds like everyone had a good time and all went well. No spills...so everyone went home fully clothed. Unlike your wonderful evening, I attended a zoom baby shower. Our covid numbers are rising and the in person option was decided against. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteAnd Austria is back in partial lockdown
DeleteYay! Glad you're back to some semblance of normality.
ReplyDeleteSo am I xx
DeleteDespite farts and William wall stains, I so hope the four of you had a grand visit and you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI’m still not 100%
DeleteAnd that’s not the hangover x lol
DeleteSo nice to see. We should follow your lead. Do you think you and your interesting, charming friends would come to our house?
ReplyDeleteSend me fourairplane tickets and I guarantee it xx
DeleteI wish I could send my private plane!
DeleteA perfect evening! I'm happy for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bonnie. It was a lovely evening
DeleteOh I'm so glad that the get together went on as planned and that your on the mend, looking at those smiling faces nothing better than that a toast to many more evenings like this John.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all had a ball. So pleased for you all. Smiles all round.
