I treated myself to an art gallery day today.
Richard Wathen’s New Eyes Every Time at The Mostyn Gallery
Salad in the cafe, shopping in the atrium
I know the girl on the door and she asked me what I was doing today
“ I’m being all middle class and homosexual today!” I told her
“ Spend wisely “ she laughed
In the end I treated myself to two things . A driftwood bird with nail legs by Rachel Sumner and a fox platter by Jenny Murray. I have other bits by both artists.
Thank you Andrew and Rachel
And to Fleetwood Mac of course
I was in the audience for this one
Fabulous
Sounds like a fine day indeed, John.
ReplyDeleteBut of self therapy mike xx
DeleteI like Wathen's painting. I am glad you had a good day and I also like the driftwood bird. As for me helping you, it is sometimes easier to see things from afar than when you are standing on top of them. xx
ReplyDeleteIndeed.....
DeleteThe bird has an energy I like ....the fox platter was an impulse buy but it livens a darker corner of the kitchen
I love those goodies. Your house is a wonderfully impressive gallery on it's own.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome anytime x
DeleteDelightful new acquisitions!
ReplyDeleteGreat fun buying isn’t it?
DeleteFleetwood Mac should always be thanked.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the bird! Love both pieces but the bird is fab. The gallery wall looks fantastic.
XOXO
It’s now complete
DeleteBut if tempted John you may Just be able to fit one in x
DeleteCatching up with your last post - well done 8lb ! That’s excellent- and jolly hard work! I love, love, LOVE the Rachel Sumner bird - it’s perfect where you’ve hung it! I’m glad you had a happy time at the gallery - but why didn’t you ask for your coffee to come in a proper cup? Glasses of coffee drive me mad, and all too often I spill them.
ReplyDeleteIt was a flat white .....I could deal with the pretension...it went with the day out
DeleteWhat a treat - an art gallery, two buys and a lovely lunch. Sounds like a good day to me. xx
ReplyDeleteYes I could write a book about the importance of pampering yourself
DeleteBook #2?! Yes, you can!!
DeleteHugs!
Looks and sounds like our Neil Finn?
ReplyDeleteThe artist?
DeleteI love the driftwood bird!!! What a nice edition to the art wall.
ReplyDeleteFunny how one’s taste in art changes
DeleteGood choices! I love your art wall.
ReplyDeleteWell done for supporting Oriel Mostyn too
We have to now support those smaller places, the bespoke shops and cinemas and little theatres and businesses
DeleteHope is today and the future.
ReplyDeleteOnwards upwards
DeleteLove the bird - very chirpy. Lunch looks good, too.
ReplyDeleteNo one likes the fox lol
DeleteAlmost anyone can call themselves middle class these days. Almost everyone can call themselves homosexual too, but I prefer not to. It would take too long to explain. Just take my word for it.
ReplyDeleteGo on try it ......
DeleteLove the platter and the bird - and also love your jolly mood which goes along nicely.
ReplyDeleteJolly. .....I’m getting there x
DeleteThank you for Fleetwood Mac with Neil Finn - I recognised his voice before I had even "embiggened" the clip to see the band. Glad you got to go to their concert in 2019. With care, Michelle in Wellington, NZ
ReplyDeleteI love the fox! You are getting a beautiful collection of arty creature creations.
ReplyDeletePS Thanks for reminding me of Fleetwood Mac...I wore out this track! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cV2kH2yPwUw
DeleteI have a friend who has a fox visiting daily-he likes sausages-sometimes he brings his wife x
ReplyDeleteI saw them sing that song a long time ago in Hershey, PA
ReplyDeleteI like your purchases, John.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day out and I love your purchases. Your art wall gets more amazing all the time. The bird is a perfect addition!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day!! Love your fox platter and your new, whimsical bird. It seems to me you have room for more art at the top of your art wall, if you pay attention to the sizes and shapes ...
ReplyDeleteI saw Fleetwood Mac long ago, too.
Hugs!
You got us to show you a view out of the window which was fun. How about we send you a picture of some art from our house?
ReplyDeleteJulie
Love the wee fox - I may use him as inspiration for knitting a jumper :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you got out to enjoy some art. I love the fox platter in particular.
ReplyDeleteArt find days are my favorites . . .
ReplyDeleteLiking your added treasures . . .
Love the bird!
ReplyDeleteI like the fox platter.
ReplyDeleteI like your art choices. I think you have other fox pieces. Loved your day out.
ReplyDeleteI feel like purchasing a few new items for the condo. It feels like it is getting stale. I will have to remove some of the old stuff though, I don't want to get cluttered. Just more stuff Maxwell will need to get rid of when I am gone :).
