Lin Manuel Miranda ‘s In The heights
Is something I’m looking forward to
A bit of sweetness...it looks such a celebration ........
I’m not moaning , I’m just saying that I’ve not been myself recently
I’m quick to upset and easy to anger.
I’ve been prickly and defensive and probably have been a bit depressed
Depressed people arnt good company and I’ve always prided myself on being good company
Which fucks me off even more.
I’m getting back to normal but it’s a work in process and it’s slow.
So don’t walk on eggshells with me
I’ll try a bit harder.
You took down the Mood? post, why? I love when everyone answers questions like that. I hope you enjoy your film. I had a friend who bought a house there to redo, she and her husband were so excited.
ReplyDeleteI wrote my comment before you edited your post! I am sorry for being frivolous, and saddened that your weekend with Nu and friends and other outings has not lifted your spirits. Better times are coming, John, a time when you need not spend 12 hour days swathed in masks, gowns, and face shields. OMG that would hurt anyone's spirits. Be kind to yourself.
Deletehugs
lizzy
I like the music and the dancing and it looks to be an uplifting film x
ReplyDeleteIf you were female, I'd say it could be menopause, haha!! That's how I remember THAT part of my life. Ick. And depression I know about, too. Pills help, yay. Be patient with yourself, 'downs' are a part of human life, methinks, but they can cause growth. love.
ReplyDeleteIt’s all a part of lockdown xx
DeleteI get upset but recently irritated too thinking some people should be kinder considering we could all be dead and-it Is your party x
ReplyDeleteWhen everything pisses me off and everything is too hard to do, I know I'm depressed. Covid has been hard on people and you're used to being out and about. I'm an introvert, so not much has changed for me:)
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon, John. xx
ReplyDeleteI watched it during the weekend. I loved it. So good. You should go see it/stream it.
ReplyDeleteHope you get better soon!
XOXO
Who upset you? Tell them they'll be getting a visit from Crusher Cro if they persist.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you've not been feeling yourself. Depression is something I understand very well I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteI've seen several previews for In The Heights and it does look good. The previews kind of remind me a little of West Side Story.
Feel better - lots of people care!
Covid and changes you have had to make in your life at about the same time must have all had their effect. I know I feel more vulnerable at the moment. Sort of "unpeeled" from my normal shell. I think we will all take time to recover. Hope you can keep on enriching your life with as many good moments and supportive friends as possible while you heal.
ReplyDeleteSending 'gentle thoughts' to you John. You've come through so many kinds of traumas it's early surprising you are not feeling yourself.
ReplyDeleteWishing you all good things, starting with a light heart.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Saw the trailer - it looks a happy film, should cheer you up. If not my advice as always is to give yourself a kick up the backside!
ReplyDeleteAlthough thats easy for me to say as I'm not working 12 hour days or nights.
“Prickly and easy to anger.” A major part of who I am when I’m depressed. And when I know and acknowledge it, I’m already doing better. Wishing you better days.
ReplyDeleteWashington Heights looks so good. Leave it to Lin Manuel Miranda. A genius.
It's difficult climbing back up when you're under par. I hope things get better soon. xx
ReplyDeleteI hope you soon see light at the end of the tunnel that is depression. I know you know it, but if things get too dark, please see your GP. We all care. xx
ReplyDeleteJohn you live alone, have a stressful job with terrible hours, you do have a great network of family and friends. BUT you daily amuse over 1,000 followers from around the world, we love your wit, your take on life and your stories. I hope you shake your cloud, having never suffered depression, I can't begin to understand it, but like so many other I wish you well.
ReplyDeleteI think we're all rather emotionally scrambled by the endless virus crisis and the lack of any proper "normality". But whatever the cause, I hope you start to feel a bit more buoyant.
ReplyDeleteYep. I sympathise with all of that. We're all a little bit lost at the moment, we're all unsettled in someway and it's taking its toll on us. You always press on John and you bring a lot of joy to other people, myself included. Hope you know how much you are valued. Jean. xx
ReplyDeleteGiven your current mood I shall say nothing that might upset you. However, I recommend listening to any version of "Kumbaya" you can find on YouTube. Better than any medicine.
ReplyDeleteBig virtual ((hugs)) John and don't beat yourself up.
ReplyDeleteI saw this on Broadway and loved it. The movie looks a little "produced" for me, but maybe it will turn out well.
ReplyDeleteWith what you've been through in the last few years, I think you're entitled to be a bit crabby!
ReplyDeleteBig hugs John …. you must be feeling low if your trips out to see friends hasn’t helped. Chin up John ….. just a blip ….. I’m sure you will pick up.( but I know those words don’t help when you’re feeling low ). I’m pissed off with this broken arm and it’s only been a week ( it’s going to take months … I shall be doolally by the end of it !!! ) XXXX
ReplyDeleteSimply put: John, gentle hugs from the base of the mini-mountain in Maine. "This too shall pass."
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only one quick to anger and easy to upset, I'm also being an impatient stroppy cow. This back pain has turned me into a horrible person. It takes every fibre of my being to be nice to anyone at the moment ... hence me not blogging. I dread to think what I would write!!
ReplyDeleteStop being so hard on yourself. You are having an attack of real life. Join the club. There are times when you need to take a break from self criticism. Cue Rag and Bone Man singing "Only Human"!
ReplyDeleteYes, who said you were 'exempt' from being human like the rest of us?
DeleteIf they gave nurses humane working hours you’d probably feel more optimistic. A twelve hour shift is too much, a twelve hour shift in PPE, torture. What happened to the eight hour day?
