Minari

I went to Chester today to see Minari at the Storyhouse
A quiet study of second generation Korean family in American was a lovely choice of my first cinema trip
A man sat alone in the row in front  of me waved at the audience behind him as he got comfortable and cheerfully shouted out “ Hello all.......isn’t this BLOODY  fabulous ? “
We all murmured our agreement from behind our masks
And then there was a small smattering of applause..........

  2. What a nice thing. Life is slowly coming back, though I'm not quite ready to do a movie theater (here in the states). I just heard on the news that our local sports venue for the baseball team is going to go to full capacity...68,000 people. And if you aren't vaccinated they "suggest" that you wear a mask but if you tell them you're vaccinated, just come on in and cram together with no masks. I don't get it sometime. Sigh.

I'm going to have to look up that movie and watch for it when it is available.

    Glad to see you posting.

  5. Each step back to a semblance of normality is celebrated in some way. This entire pandemic has impacted everyone.

  6. I find that quite emotional John-The people I bump into during my day seem to be more open than I noticed previously-and I just feel greatful to be alive-I'm sure I smile far more(possibly look a bit barmy though)x

    1. I agree. I have had several 15-20 minute conversations outside with total strangers, about cars, dogs, whatever. It was simply the joy of conversing (at 2m distance with a mask) with a fellow human being. Smiles seem to happen easier too. So you are not barmy.

  8. Ohh I've heard it's a good movie.
And I have been tempted to go see Cruella but have refrained. I'll wait until it's been two weeks or some since the premiere.

    XOXO

I, too, applaud that vocal man's shared enjoyment of the movie. May we all share our joy with those around us.

  17. I've read good things about Minari.

That was a touching connection with others in the theatre.

  18. I shall be pleased to go to the cinema again in a few days' time. But I think I'll restrain myself from leaping up and shouting "Isn't this bloody fabulous?".

  20. What an unusual thing to do. People are usually so discreet in cinemas - seen but not heard. I booked to see "Nomadland" at The Showroom this week.

  21. I like the idea of that but dare not have done it myself - I suspect you dare have done it John.

  23. It's always nice when someone is brave enough to be themselves and break the ice, I bet everyone was so much more relaxed after the chap spoke up.

It's like being in the dentists waiting room, sometimes it takes a child to say something funny and then every one starts to talk to each other instead of looking at all the posters or their shoes.

  24. i really want to see that movie. things are coming back to normal here as well. there are somethings about the quarantine i am going to miss though. i don't like crowds so it will take some time getting used to them again.

  25. That makes me feel better and have a smile and I am only getting this second hand. I hope it brightened your day as well. Along with the movie , of course.
