It didn’t......
Even though Molly donned 48 earrings, two miles of oven tin foil and was surrounded by a gaggle of fat Icelandic cherubs all dressed in home knitted jumpers, the beautifully lit Reykjavik skyline and the whole country’s firework stores

Yes, I like it too...and even the Northern Lights would be hard pressed to compete with the staging!

DeleteDon't know the songs, but I know the jumpers - they're traditional Icelandic Lopi jumpers, knitted in the round from Icelandic sheep wool. They first came into vogue here in the early 1980s - I remember knitting several of them for friends at college. Icelandic knitting took off to the extent there was a shortage of the wool on the island, with the locals struggling to get enough to knit with. I also knitted one for my husband and one for the love of my life. The "never knit a boyfriend a jumper or the relationshiop is doomed" came true for me - one is now an ex-husband and the other one dumped me :( I still love him though :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder how it will be before the patterns for each of those gorgeous sweaters is on Ravelry? ...if they’re not there already....
DeleteWould do well at Eurovision ! XXXX
ReplyDeleteWe should do a blogger meet up in Iceland, I can think of a couple of people who would be eager to go.
ReplyDeleteWell, it was an Eurovision song contest song, so you should"t want anything less than auroras in a tinfoildress!
ReplyDeleteThe song is beautiful, much better than the one which won.
But all I can think of is how cold it's been there filming that performance... brrrr
