KFC

I used a lull in my workload at teatime  to collect a KFC
It was for one of my patients who loves a takeaway
Food remains a huge pleasure for him, which is often a rare occurrence in palliative care and so like a couple of schoolboys this afternoon we whispered the long KFC menu and he put in his order.
I treated a few of the nurses who weren’t watching their figures too
For logistical reasons we had only been offered sandwiches from our usually robust canteen.
The patient tucked in to his zinger burger with some gusto and my vicarious pleasure in his pleasure was immeasurable .
It was funny but as I was sat in the drive in queue I remembered a visit to the same local takeaway three years ago. It was a summers evening and I was with my husband.
We had just been to a particularly harrowing relate appointment and I was feeling bruised and battered and vulnerable.
We stopped because we were hungry
And I remember feeling rather odd
Lost in those wonderfully indulgent eight spices
The chicken cushioning  me from all of the hurt.

Let’s leave things on a lighter note
Taskmaster tonight
My new guilty crush
The comedian Mike Wosniak

What a tash!!!!

  3. I recall the food I ate on an evening over 30 years ago-my first dog was put to sleep here and my dad came over beforehand-when he left he insisted I went to his house later and he ordered an Indian takeaway which he knew I enjoyed.A couple of weeks later I ate just olives the night before my divorced mum and dad accompanied me to a dogs home where we found my beloved Prince x

  4. Food can take you right back...like particular bits of music. Though I've never tried KFC, perhaps lockdown is the time to do it!

  5. Mike Wosniak... You'll have no competition from me. (Nor when it comes to your KFC for that matter.)

    3. OK, John. I just looked at other images and watched a bit of a video. As far as I'm concerned, you chose the worst photo available. He is definitely a worthwhile guilty pleasure.

    4. I was also wondering what you saw in him....I have recorded the programme last night and will check him out when I watch ! I only discovered Taskmaster a few months ago, and I love it. Every evening at 6 there is an old series on TV. We only see half of it though as we need to watch House of Games first!

  8. A special KFC treat for your patient made his/her day.
Sounds like others enjoyed the KFC too. A bit of a departure from the routine meals always tastes good.

How kind of you to take your break time to get your patient, fellow nurses, and yourself (I hope) some yummy KFC.
Oh, now you've made me wish it wasn't storming here so we could dash out for some KFC. Sigh!

    Hugs!

  14. In my distant past, the Bestest Place was MacDonalds! I thought the food was inedible, BUT, where else can you take 11 young cricketers, starving after a game, and have every single child know EXACTLY what they want, order immediately, without moans, and eat it all up - every last crumb! As a parent, that harmony is worth its weight in gold!

  15. KFC is the only fast-food outlet I've visited. Back in the early 80's, I used to regularly drive from Sussex to Shropshire with my 3 children, and a big bucket of KFC was wonderful. I might even go again one day, although I expect Nando's will win.

  16. Years ago on my birthday i asked my dad if we could get KFC in a bucket as we had never had a bucket before, and we all enjoyed our treat.

Your goats outside the hospice made it onto New Zealand news tonight. They're famous!!!

  20. It's little wonder we have such a complex relationship with food eh. When big lockdown lifted in NZ back at the end of last April, queues at KFC were hundreds of cars long. I think it is because of the smell! I love the smell ad the promise of it but I always throw it up! (gastric bypass+intense protein food = back up!)

  21. I've never eaten in a KFC - or McDonalds or Burger King or any of those fast-food places. Mainly because I'm not keen on burgers of any description. I prefer pizza.

It's sad that your visit to KFC stirred up such harrowing memories.

  22. I'm sure KFC isn't as spicy and tasty as it used to be back in the days when it was the only takeaway available (except fish and chips of course). The last time I had one it was pretty tasteless

Our City Market grocery store has the best fried chicken in town ... I have dreamt about that chicken! LOL It IS that good!!!! LOL

Most people choose numbers based on their birth date it is lucky for them or chaos in it. If you are a CMM Satta Matka player, do not choose numbers using your date of birth. There are 0-31 numbers in one month and it is a limited number. If you choose Kalyan Bazar between the 0-31 numbers, you can never reach other numbers that can make you win. An expert player does such stupidity in his game. You should also not to perform these mistakes. Use your mind to find out the correct number in Main CMM Satta . Most of the time people invest their whole money in the winning numbers in the hope of winning again. Stop getting excited so much can vanish your entire money.
