Ruth Bader Ginsburg

The New York Met emails me weekly

It doesn’t bother me much unless it’s selling it’s Christmas Decorations
I bought many of those when I’ve visited New York

Last night the “ Met “ offered me my own Ruth Bader Ginsburg Action figure and how could I possibly refuse?
So on a whim ...I’ve bought her within seconds of the offer

An elderly Jewish woman action figure of intelligence and humour
How gay is that...?
She will be my next so alternative Christmas dec

  4. Dear John, Ruth BADER Ginsberg is remembered as a rationalist, progressive defender of human rights, gender equality, fairness to workers and the separation of church and state. She needs to be remembered, even in doll-form, to get kids thinking about that stuff.

    1. Thank you for pointing out that her name is BADER and not Badger [yikes!]
John ... you need to correct that headline! Ruth Bader Ginsberg was definitely a "badger" when defending our Constitution and the U.S. and the rights of all individuals here! She put up one helluva fight against the cancer that finally took her from us!!

    2. Ha! I was going to mention the "Badger" too. It's kind of a good nickname for her, though. She was fierce! Love the action figure.

John is everyone's best customer. His cottage must be bursting at the seams and I sometimes wonder if he has a rich benefactor, he buys so much STUFF! I hope the rich benefactor comes up trumps when he next gets a bill otherwise he'll be on here bemoaning his present job pays less than his previous one.

I can afford nice things because I don’t drive an expensive car, I have a tv the size of a cornflake packet and I don’t buy clothes
If it bothers you so much then don’t read the blog

    6. I think even I could afford a Ruth Bader Ginsburg doll despite my top of the range, circa 2000 Volvo and my taste for Waitrose yellow label Duchy offers. Life is sweet.

  12. Her passing was the world's loss - and I'm sure in saying that I also speak for a lot of non-Americans, as is already showing by some of the comments above. Long may we salute her memory, as may well sadly become ever more evident over time.

  16. Thank you for bringing Ruth Ginsburg to my attention.
A very remarkable human being. We need more like her in all areas of life - irrespective of their gender.
That apparently naff little model represents humnanity at it's best.

  21. I had never heard of the lady so I googled her-and what an inspirational Woman she was and so apt for now-she was right out there Years ago x

  22. RBG was/is so loved and revered. My hope is that her name will be known and taught to others hundreds of years from now. She was an amazing human and Supreme Court Justice.

  23. RBG is greatly missed!

  24. The iconic RBG. The litigator supreme. Both brilliant and highly accomplished. The world will not be the same without RBG.

  25. I remember seeing that. I get the emails and catalogs. I often get cards and stationary from them. I miss museums.

  26. she would be pleased as Punch to know this.

  27. I have two RBG face masks that I got shortly after her death. One is much like an Andy Warhol painting with a repeating pattern of small colorful pictures of Ruth wearing sunglasses. I made a point of wearing them during the rushed confirmation hearings for her replacement. On her deathbed Ruth had asked that they wait until after the presidential election, but of course the GOP didn't and rammed it through in 8 days. They had blocked Merrick Garland (Obama's choice to replace Antonin Scalia) for nine months, while citing the upcoming election at that time in 2016 as their excuse. Grrr...

    1. A case of do as I say, not as I do. Just one reason to loathe the GOP.

I have admired Ruth Bader Ginsburg for decades as she stood up for right, fairness, equality, and decency as her co-justices sadly diminished in integrity due to political manipulations. May her legacy abound in lives and in law schools around the world.
That figurine will add another bit of class to your Christmas tree!

    Hugs!

  30. RGB is a well loved hero to many as she should be. She repeatedly fought cancer not for herself but so she could continue to stand up for others in her position on the Supreme Court and in every way in her life. I would be proud to own anything representative of this great lady! (If she were here, she would get a great kick out of the figure as she did the many other ways people showed their love to her when she was alive!)

    3. I think the badger t-shirt is a great tribute. Like Steve Reed [above] says, RBG was fierce. She was a tiny woman but I bet many a lawyer's bowels went cold when she trained the full force of her intellect upon him!

  36. My Ruth Bader Ginsburg action figure lives on a shelf in my living room with a gavel I won in a high school debate. She protects my freedom.
