Had my first lecture from the The City Literary Institute tonight on The Master of Suspense:Alfred Hitchcock’s Spy Thrillers. It’s an eight week course which, from my first experience , seemed very interesting and stimulating
It’s nice learning stuff just for my interest only and not something confined to work it’s a bit like pampering yourself with a long bubble bath and a facial
It’s the BIG GAY QUIZ tomorrow night
At this rate I’m going to be all zoomed out!
Hey I've made the first comment.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what you shall learn about the scary films-"The Birds"and"Bates Motel"?x
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun class that must be! I've always loved his work. His old series "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" is on late every night here and I often stay up to watch it even though I have seen most of them before. I love that he made a cameo appearance in 40 of his 54 movies. It is always fun watching for him to show up.
ReplyDeleteOh, flis! I was going to mention those very movies. For years after I saw The Birds, I avoided large flocks of birds and it still comes to mind. As for showers, shudder!
ReplyDeleteJohn, hope you enjoy the lectures from The City Library Institute and tomorrow night's quiz. :)
Hugs!
Barbara Anne-I know someone who had a relationship with his mother as Norman did-it was really weird x
DeleteIf you just want old (1971) and major creepiness, try "Play Misty for Me". Clint Eastwood directed that one.
ReplyDeleteMore hugs!
Vertigo is one of the best films ever. I recently read Marnie and was surprised that it was set in England rather than the USA and that it was written by Winston Graham(Poldark author)
ReplyDeleteGood, easy, relaxed fun. Zoom away... with lots of humor and laughter mixed in.
ReplyDeleteWhen you're done studying Hitchcock, sit back with High Anxiety. I thought that was hilarious. I'm glad you're finding some down time to pursue enjoyable activities.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting! Love Hitchcock!
ReplyDeleteHitchcock did The Man Who Knew Too Much twice. First in the 1930s, and then remade it in the 1950s. I prefer the '30s version, mainly for Peter Lorre's performance. And that's a great caricature of him at the top of your post.
ReplyDeleteI’ve never seen the earlier version until last night , I liked it , thought the daughter got right on my tits
DeleteWho doesn't love Hitchcock! I heard a radio programme recently about his life (rather than his films). Interesting man.
ReplyDeleteGood to get the little grey cells working, and if you can have fun whilst doing so, even better. xx
ReplyDeleteIt's good you're doing something just for you, something that will hopefully totally take your mind off the present situation. You are made of stronger stuff than me...I have never watched a Hitchcock film, Towering Inferno gave me nightmares!
ReplyDeleteAs long as they don't show The Birds,
ReplyDeleteIt’s not a spy film as far as I know
DeleteHow do you manage a facial with a beard???
ReplyDeleteRoughly
DeleteMavis say NOTHING
DeleteMay I suggest a nice soothing balsam x
DeleteI was too much of a chicken to watch too many of the Hitchcock films. I would sit with my hands over my eyes during scary movies!
ReplyDeleteSounds nice to take a class!
