Rent A Cuddle

Welsh terriers are desperate cuddlers
They will cling to you as a baby would, but unlike babies they never cry and will snuggle all night without pissing themselves.
Over this year Mary has been loaned out many times to friends that need this “ cuddle time”
The other night my friend Ruth collected her for an under- the- duvet night, only a few hours after Hattie collects her for a walk ( and long hugs on a country bench) and a day after Trendy Carol collects all of the dogs but only allowing Mary to come up to her drawing room for some sit on her knee time .
All my Welsh terriers have been the same

  1. There's a similar trait that Pugs have. Every single Pug that I have parented has needed to be permanently welded to me, except when showering. Does this say something about us or them?

  3. I think my thatch may possibly be a Welsh terrier as some dog walkers have suggested even though the dogs home said he was a lakeland. He apparently lived outside with other dogs in Ireland and they said he'd never lived in a house before. He still is not house trained and will only have cuddles on his terms. His coat was matted and so they shaved him and there is still a patch on his back only slowly returning and a front tooth removed. He is a monkey x

    3. I'll decline your offer for now, JayGee, only because when I let thinking about animals run free, it takes over my entire life. Should I need your advice on any particular canine matter - as well as others - you'll be at the very top of my 'go-to' list. Thanks anyway.

I would do that, Anon, if only I didn't already have my present feline quartet to care for. But thanks.

  19. Such a sweetheart! We've talked about getting a dog when we retire to an acre in the high country of the Southwest (U.S.) and will have to look into a Welsh Terrier when the time comes.

She is absolutely adorable and loves you plus her size is a bonus. Try getting a Rottweiler off of you lap when THEY DECIDE they want a cuddle and won't shift off!

  22. Just like a Pug then, if Suky isn't pinned to my side on the sofa she's stood behind me in the kitchen or following me from room to room as I do things. Sometimes if I'm in and out of the rooms too much she will take up a vantage point in the hallway and watch my comings and goings with the air of an exasperated babysitter.

Doggy cuddles are something we all need at the moment.

  23. I'm so surprised that Mary is happy to spend time, particularly an overnighter, in someone else's house. I had to leave my 10 year old Bichon with a friend while I attended a hospital appointment and he whined and whittled the whole time except when she took him for a walk.

What a shame that at Trendy Carols the other dogs aren't allowed the same cuddles as Mary. All dogs deserve cuddle time, they thrive on it. As we do.

What a charming photo of you and Mary! Sweet Mary does provide a much needed service, doesn't she?
Our beloved basset hound Daisy loved to snuggle day or night. She took turns sleeping with our sons, too, and kept track of whose turn it was. She could also count to four and did bed checks to see if each of us was in place before she joined one of our boys.

    Hugs!
