A Gift Of Flowers

I had a friend over to stay last night.

Now before anyone gets their covid knickers in a spin.
It was the chap that was ‘ conscripted ‘ into my original and allowed bubble way back in the summer
Do you remember the one who got village tongues wagging?
He was the one I decided just to be friends with.

And we are friends.
We talked and talked and laughed and ate and for the first moment in a long time I felt more human.
I felt more human too because of the fact we laughed and talked and hugged and cuddled too.
The hug and cuddle not no more significance than a hug and a cuddle but it reminded us singletons that we are here and valued and pertinent

It’s 8.30 am and I’ve just taken the dogs out for a quick wee walk
Cup of coffee in hand.
My friend is still asleep in the spare room,
So I may take them out for a proper walk.

On the counter top is a glass jug with a bunch of blue iris drinking from it and I smile .
A gift of flowers from a man.

How nice

  7. That sounds like just the sort of evening you needed. And flowers for and from a man are a brilliant thing.

I always remember buying Alan flowers for the first time, he was 45 and nobody had EVER bought him flowers before. His face lit up as he took them from me.

  10. How lovely to have the company of a "Warts n all friend" as I call them. These sorts of friends are worth their weight in gold as you don't have to explain yourself you just have to simply be as no expectations have to be managed and you can enjoy the company and light-hearted-ness of a good friendship. From a personal perspective these are the best kind of friendships. I am a big believer that cuddles are a very important part of life as it conveys so much that is needed from a single action. Simply beautiful x

  24. Lovely to hear of a friendship like that JOHN -every day brings us nearer to an understanding about relationships and, having a transgender grandson I wes so pleased to read it. The day will come when people cease to become aware of anything to do with it.

John's relationships and friendships aren't any different from being heterosexual or anything else so why make a point that he's gay? He has a friendship with another man, when I read his post I thought what a lovely experience, having a lovely evening and having hugs and cuddles, something many of us are lacking right now. There's absolutely no need for you to call it "a friendship like that"
It's not abnormal to be gay. Look at all the other comments, lovely warm and affectionate comments, you could learn something there.

Anon, thank you for sticking up for me , your comments re sexuality have a resonance but Pat is not an enemy here, she is and old a trusted friend
As for flis, she has a smutty collections of innuendos which I appreciate from her as I do from mave etc
Let’s not see enemies here, there are enough in the big world
