My friend Ruth needed some “ Yes You have to buy it, buy it now “ kind of therapy today,
So we met up at The Mostyn Gallery and I suggested several rather expensive paintings which she instantly fell in love with!
I had fishfinger sandwiches at the oriel cafe while Ruth had falafels,
Our final pre lockdown bit of culture
and we had a mooch around the Athena Papadopoulos instillation , before more shopping where
I bought my fair share of frippery
My gay, bearded plant pot
A pottery whale
A doggy stand for hot saucepans with doggy spatulas!
I love your gay, bearded plant pot! That is awesome! I would have thought your "doggy" stand was actually a fox, though...? I could be wrong.
ReplyDeleteI think you are right x
DeleteWe have the same pattern on a set of cups!
DeleteI remember loving them when you blogged a photo
Deleteadore the whale!
ReplyDeleteYou could have made a whale! Couldnt you? Still potting?
ReplyDeleteFun day, fun art, perfect whale.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the plant pot. Love it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very cool day.
I'm also loving the installation (??)
XOXO
The plant pot was just a bit of kvitch
DeleteThe plant pot is spot on! I'll have to take a photo of a plant pot we've had for 40 years or so and still love because it looks a bit like DH.
ReplyDeleteThe whale is a delight, but as has been said, you could have made that. :)
Won't those doggie kitchen accessories bring a smile as you use them?!
Cheers for retail therapy prn!
Hugs!
I did buy a new duvet set too
DeleteWhen will we see that?
DeleteHugs!
Giving ourselves little treats is essential right now.
ReplyDeleteI have no problem doing that
DeleteThe plant pot is fab! x
ReplyDeleteIsn’t it?
DeleteIt's amazing how a small thing can give a big lift! Love your purchases.
ReplyDeleteYes, and a wash of the face and an iron of a shirt and an opening of the wallet
DeleteAre you sure that isn't a fox, not a dog? Foxes are very "in" right now.
ReplyDeleteYou and Steve are right a fox it is
DeleteYour friend Ruth is very ladylike isn't she John x
ReplyDeletePs-my tichy likes to shred newspaper x
DeleteYes she can be
DeleteI'm having fish finger sarnies for tea, thank you.
ReplyDeleteWith Tatar sauce or salad cream ?
DeleteOooh ... it should always be mayo :-)
DeleteOh...the fish finger sandwich looks fantastic...and your whale is gorgeous, couldn't have resisted him myself!
ReplyDeleteThere was something cheerful about him
Deleteisn't that the same fox/dog on a canister behind the whale? i love your purchases.
ReplyDeleteYes, that’s my salt container
Deletethe second wave is starting and in a pandemic it is usually the 2nd wave that kills the majority of people. You baby boomers are all going to die of corona-virus and finally the world will be able to make progress when you boomers are all dead
ReplyDeleteYou can step off the earth any time you like, dear. We boomers? We will be here for a long, long time. My, my - such a little troll. Send him back down the little hole he came from!
DeleteIt’s only spam xx
DeleteLike a russianbot? I don't see what they get out of this?
DeleteGreat choices, all of them, including the fish finger sarnie. Ro xx
ReplyDeleteWith lashings of tartar sauce
DeleteOoh, that looks delicious, did you drop any down your shirt? Christine
DeleteI love all your finds. Especially the doggy set. Glad you got out and about and took in a bit of lunch and culture.
ReplyDeleteIt made us both feel somewhat human
DeleteIt looks like you had a fun day. I love the whale!
ReplyDeleteAs it turned out , it was made by the woman who was teaching me pottery
DeleteSometimes life just needs a few well chosen fripperies! (as well as a few hours spent with a good friend)
ReplyDeleteYes it was a fickle nice afternoon
DeleteI too love the whale. Looks easier to make than the fat pony but I have the artistic talent of a brick
ReplyDeleteI’m still designing my chess set in my head
DeleteI was thinking about your chess set. Don’t forget the wombat suggestion
DeleteThe wombats are going to be the rooks
DeleteMy sister used to argue with me that frippery wasn’t a word.
ReplyDeleteShe’s soooo wrong
DeleteI love that kind of shopping! The plant pot is happy and cheerful. You did good!
ReplyDeleteI did didn’t I x
DeleteI've got an orange spatula just like that.
ReplyDeleteWe should bake together
DeleteI like what you purchased.
ReplyDeleteI thank u
DeleteLove your gay bearded pot plant but cant say I fancy that fish finger sandwich.
ReplyDeleteIt was bloody lovely
DeleteI indulged in some "yes you have to buy it" therapy today on E-Bay. My favorite kind of shopping, no wash of a face, iron of a shirt and best of all no wearing of a bra required!
ReplyDeleteThe best line of the night
DeleteYou had a sausage sandwich a few days ago, didn't you? neither variety of sandwich would ever make an appearance in a cafe here and I am so very bored with the usual cafe menus. What other delights do you have?
ReplyDeleteOh the tales I could tell
DeleteThe dog pot stand is so cute.
ReplyDeleteIsn’t it
DeleteWhew... your taste is definitely not my taste there John... but i'am ever so glad you had fun... its important.. Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteThank u , I think lol
DeleteSuch a good day! Your unique, artsy purchases will make you smile every time you look at them. You continue to create a warm and wonderful nest at your cottage.
ReplyDeleteYou have a canister there that matches the trivet and spatula. The fish looks good, the whale fun.
ReplyDeleteI like the whale.
ReplyDeleteLoving the whale!! And I love fish sticks sandwiches!!
ReplyDeleteGreat purchases! Adore the blue whale. As for the falafels, I won't be going anywhere soon (Red Zone here in Montreal)to enjoy any. #Goals2021 eat some great falafals at Panthère Verte.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shopping , love the pot and the whale. Never heard of a fish finger sandwich before!
ReplyDeleteLove everything. Especially the Fox/dog !
ReplyDeleteI drew a similar brownish red Dog, her name was Truffles, much like your fox !
She was my Daughters Gud Dug who was thrown out of a car window near where Daughter work at the shelter. The shelter was going to euthanize her, back injury, till Daughter sad NO I will adopt her. They made a wonderful family together. I miss her so much she had the best life with Daughter. I have many photo of her with my crazy bunch. She was the color of a Truffle.
You are having the best time with good friends !
xx
I had to enlarge that picture of your Fish Finger sandwich; I was drooling over it for ages.
ReplyDeleteA day well spent with your friend and love the frippery as you call it Will remind you of the day when you look at those fun items.
ReplyDeleteI love all your purchases, and that fish finger butty looks lovely ♥️
ReplyDeleteI need to visit Mostyn Gallery again ... when I'm allowed back into Wales 😉
Super purchases, particularly love the Whale, and the gay, bearded pot plant is such fun! I’m so sorry you’re in for more restrictions, this virus is a €*#@~
ReplyDeleteJohn - please take a minute to read the last comments on Weave's blog if you've not already seen them.
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to have not one but two jars of tartare sauce on one's fish finger sandwich.
ReplyDeleteLove the plant pot ! I think your dog is a fox. Fish finger sarnies remind me of the 70s but with tomato ketchup in. A friend and I went to a local art gallery on Saturday then had lunch sat outside at a cafe where we ordered Falafels. We waited for an hour to get them having been ignored for ages but got chatting to two lovely women we had instant rapport with so some good came out of our wait in the cold !
ReplyDeleteLove the plant pot..and the greenery hair!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with the foxie plate and the whale.
ReplyDeleteAs one who was once widowed, I can totally relate to that gentleman's feelings. I remember sitting on the couch with my good (long since widowed) friend the day my husband passed and asking her "Tell me how being widowed feels Jeannie?"
I love what you bought and what you saw. I was thinking of some retail therapy this afternoon, but it's already 4:30 and a siesta is sounding better. Besides, I wouldn't find places like you found where I'd be going. Maybe I need an entire day in the city (Málaga).
ReplyDeleteExcellent choices!
