We chatted and laughed for a four hour shop !
I have never shopped for that long !
Went to buy a rug and photograph some ideas for a new bathroom
And bought
Two rugs,
Two yellow cushions,
A yellow and white woollen throw,
A pretty bolster cushion with embroidery
A small white and blue striped vase,
A small blue tray,
2 candles,
And a bloody trendy, fucking expensive NEW SOFA!
Take it that was a woollen throw. Not wooden! Love the settee. I miss IKEA.
ReplyDeleteLove it. My last IKEA shop, and I came back with a trolley load of candles...60 boxes of them!
ReplyDeleteHope dogs and Albert approve of sofa..
Oh god the thought
DeleteNeed to go back in the next month or so as have burnt most of them...it was a year ago.
DeleteThat's a really lovely sofa.
ReplyDeletexx
It will fit 8n quite nicely joy, very simple
DeleteI like an eclectic mix of old and new
you made up for not shopping much. nice sofa. do we get to see the rest of the haul?
ReplyDeleteYes....watch this space...I also bought some 1930s American diner coffee mugs on line which were delivered this evening and look wonderful
DeleteWow that is some shopping trip John love the sofa and like the sound of the yellow and blue items will look nice and cheerful, looking forward to seeing it all put together.
ReplyDeleteOh I’ve had fun x
DeleteI love the sofa, very Italian retro. It will give the cottage a new look.
ReplyDeleteThat’s the idea xx
DeleteThat's what I was about to say - re retro.
DeleteI like the idea of the contrasting styles in an old Welsh cottage.
DeleteI love that sofa! Very trendy and stylish! Blue and yellow go together quite well when decorating and I can not wait to see how you work your magic with all the new goodies! Won't Winnie be excited to see those new cushions!
ReplyDeleteShe’s already kicked them around the room
DeleteSofa is lovely and being surrounded by some loveliness adds to the sense of hygge!
ReplyDeleteThat’s my plan
DeleteBravo! I got new living room furniture last month after wanting new for 10 years. I'm still giddy every time I see it!
ReplyDeleteI’m giddy as a kipper
Deleteoooooooooh, that sofa will look nice in your yellow living room. and winnie will have fun with the new cushions.
ReplyDeleteSee above AM she’s already booted them around the living room
DeleteLooking forward to your pictorial tour of the cottage! I really missed IKEA when I lived in Savannah, but now there are two on opposite sides of the city, so one is always nearby!
ReplyDeleteOk will show my purchases tomorrow x
DeleteJust for u
Deletexoxo
DeleteI adore all your colors! ! ! from the walls, bookcase, sofa and cushions
ReplyDeleteYour home, in my mind, is sooooo sophisticated
DeleteGlad you have had fun. Good for you That's what it is all about at the end of the day. Love the sofa and look forward to the full reveal. You my friend am very pleased to say have come full circle. highly chuffed. Pattypan x
ReplyDeleteI did have fun ...and that fun is healing x
DeleteCheap day out then!
ReplyDeleteHow satisfying for you John and those seat cushions on your new sofa look to be very plumptious x
ReplyDeleteIt is fun shopping there!
ReplyDeleteThe sofa is perfect .... very on trend .... you are updating the cottage beautifully without losing any of its charm.... you are the Kevin McCloud of Trelawnyd !! XXXX
ReplyDeleteHe’s quite sexy in a weird way
DeleteIt sounds like you hit the jack-pot on things perfect for your cottage and had lots of fun, too! Were you able to bring all of your purchases home with you or will the sofa have to be delivered?
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Delive
DeleteSorry am typing this as I’m on a phone call
DeleteIt will be delivered on Monday x
No problem! My favorite form of multitasking is put wet laundry in the dryer, another load in the washer, and then take a nap. Bliss!
DeleteWill you be home on Monday for the delivery?
Hugs!
IKEA will cause that to happen, my dear friend Jen is not allowed in Ikea without adult supervision. I have volunteered, but we are not sure I meet the criteria. Enjoy
ReplyDeleteLol
DeleteYou are quite the spontaneous spender. Sometimes that worries me. I worry about everybody, and everything.
ReplyDeleteDon’t
DeleteI’ve fed my depression today and it’s glorious
Oh by the way, encouraged by you I browsed the Aldi random aisle today, and even bought something... 1 pack of disposable gloves, 150 gloves for 99p. Phew! Might try the Lidl random aisle next...
DeleteYou mad bitch x
DeleteAnd I will be in Lidl at their random aisle in a few hours time today. I feel another bout of wild abandon coming on... We only live once...
Delete...and I can report that while the random aisle held nothing to tempt me I did head elsewhere in Lidl to spontaneously purchase a bottle of beer for me and a bar of Peruvian chocolate for my wife - So now that this crazy spontaneity has got a grip of me where will it end?!?!
DeleteSix hundred quid for the sofa. That's a lot of dog food. But hey - you have to go mad sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI know that IKEA experience well - go for ONE thing and come home with a dozen! I do love that sofa.
ReplyDeleteI am actually placing an order with Bemz tomorrow as I want a new cover made for my existing IKEA sofa.
I ordered the new IKEA catalogue last week so hope it comes soon but still not quite ready to head back for a visit - it's always very busy at this time of year. Sigh.....
You hit the jackpot with lots of good finds. IKEA is great for combining old with Danish sleek/modern. Did you see bathrooms you liked?
ReplyDeleteI love everything IKEA. I’ll be glad when restaurant opens (closed because of Covid). Can’t wait to see your other purchases!
ReplyDeletePatty
A little retail therapy?
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good day though I'm dubious about that new sofa/couch/love-seat.
ReplyDeleteWe need to pics of ALL please.
ReplyDeleteWOW . . .
ReplyDeleteLet me know when you go shopping again!
Love the new trendy sofa!!!

Good on ya!

DeleteA thoroughly successful day! The couch is very smart, and because it's on decent legs, it will make cleaning a whole heap easier. New cushions, especially for Winnie! She must be hard on the soft furnishings, I think.

DeleteI can never resist an IKEA candle...or cushion. I, too, would love to see a photo of you, Albert, Mary, Dorothy and Winnie on the new sofa x

ReplyDeleteI like the sofa, but given the pictures you've shown of the insides of your house in the past, I wouldn't take you for an Ikea kind of guy.
ReplyDeleteThe ultimate luxury dog bed...
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteWell done John. Splash out with a vengeance I say!!
And put a sign onit to say 'No dogs allowed' and start teaching them all to read
The dog pack will soon bed in that lovely sofa for you John. Still reading and enjoying your daily postings. Great to see you on the up and up. Sals view
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty hefty shopping expedition. May you enjoy all your new purchases for a long time to come!
ReplyDeleteLove the sofa, it is the law if you visit Ikea you must buy tealights and Daim bars and have a hot dog (well in our house). Glad Winnie enjoyed the cushions x
ReplyDeleteYep, that sounds like a pretty typical visit to Ikea, you go in for one thing and come out with 10 others ... and hopefully the thing you originally went in for, but that is never usually realised!
ReplyDeleteI love the sofa, I wonder if they do it in a nice shade of green?
I can honestly say I have not heard that song in 35 years.
ReplyDeleteGreat taste John.
That's how a quick stop at IKEA usually ends up. Great sofa! Can't wait to see the new look!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking we'll never see that sofa again. Any photos will show it absolutely smothered in thick throws and dogs. Actually - is it big enough? There's not much room for two bulldogs, plus other furry bodies.
ReplyDeleteIkea will do that to you. I think they pump something not the air, or maybe the lingon berries. (good looking sofa)
