There is a crack above the front door
Hidden away in the honeysuckle
An electricity cable runs into the cottage
And a sparrow shuffles away on her eggs far inside.
It's driven Albert and Mary bananas today.
As the faint scrape of wings on stone echo around the living room like whispers.
The animals' anticipation is electric and has woken me a few times during the day.with its screaming stress
I've just got up,
Eaten a punnet of tiny tomatos
Then I've returned to bed with a pillow over my head

You are so blessed. A sweet mother sparrow has chosen your bijou cottage as a nursery for her little ones. Hopefully she will return year after year - the soundtrack to your summer.Chirrup-chirrup! Chirrup-chirrup!
ReplyDeleteI was searching for loan to sort out my bills& debts, then i saw comments about Blank ATM Credit Card that can be hacked to withdraw money from any ATM machines around you . I doubted thus but decided to give it a try by contacting { cyberhackingcompany@gmail.com} they responded with their guidelines on how the card works. I was assured that the card can withdraw $5,000 instant per day & was credited with$50,000,000.00 so i requested for one & paid the delivery fee to obtain the card, after 24 hours later, i was shock to see the UPS agent in my resident with a parcel{card} i signed and went back inside and confirmed the card work's after the agent left. This is no doubts because i have the card & has made used of the card. This hackers are USA based hackers set out to help people with financial freedom!! Deletethank you..
Awww the sounds of spring. Just like the pair of Canada geese that had goslings in front of my house and announce to the world at 4:30 every morning that they are going out into the fields. HONK! HONK! HOOOONK!
ReplyDeleteI do miss Camilo a Parker bowels
DeleteI don't think there's nothing better than that 'going back to bed'.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could see more birds. Both you and Maddie seem to have the monopoly on those!
XOXO
Do you have a local part dearheart?
DeleteI'm blessed by baby magpies, fledged but still hanging around shouting/screeching LOUDLY to be fed around 4 every morning.
ReplyDeleteOoh, those tiny tomatoes (even a punnet???? -- now I have to go look up punnet!!!) would give me heartburn and have me up with the animals.
ReplyDeletepunnet

Ah, the sweet sounds of nature!!!! Earplugs?
ReplyDeleteJust like a poem John x
ReplyDeleteThank you Rachel
DeleteI thought the same.
DeleteSometimes there are advantages to being deaf.
ReplyDeleteI have a massive shrub in the corner of my yard and it serves as a condominium for a flock of small birds. My big, elderly cat ignores the birds, thankfully. The pillow over the head is my solution as well...
ReplyDeleteYes the hedge sparrows use the honeysuckle in a similar way
DeleteThis lockdown has turned you very poetic. In one way I sort of miss your confessions about farting in public, or egg down the front of your hoodie, and in another I don't.
ReplyDeleteOh I still have plenty of those afoot
DeleteI bet.
DeleteAs Sue says - advantages of being deaf - once my hearing aids are out and my head hits the pillow I dont hear a thing.
ReplyDeleteLol
DeleteYou've taught me a new word today -- "punnet."
ReplyDeleteIt sounds naughty
DeleteYour life sounds blissful John-it ebb and flows x
ReplyDeleteIt was all a bit irritating today x
DeleteHow sweet to have a nest of babies just outside the door. Mixed blessing though it may be given the interest Albert and Mary have in those soft sounds.
ReplyDeleteIf the pillow interferes with your breathing, you might get some ear plugs.
I love returning to bed for another snooze!
How soon does that 2 week vacation start?
Hugs!
I'm on two long days next Thursday Friday then holiday
DeleteYou sound as you are living in heaven and hell at the same time. :)
ReplyDeleteYes it was itprritating
Deletealbert and mary need another hobby.
ReplyDeleteSide by dude for hours just listening
DeleteEarplugs
ReplyDeleteWe have a Great Tit in the front wall of the house. Occasionally it makes quite a lot of noise and Billy can't quite understand where it comes from. Me, I'm used to it, they come back every year.
ReplyDeleteHere it's crows right outside the window at five in the morning. Drives the cat foolish! Has been known to wake me up, too, which is no mean feat.
ReplyDeleteWe have third generation hedge sparrows by the hundreds. Each year their parents teach them where the chicken feed hoppers are and they flit from feeder to hedge. Ginger and Mavis sit watching the hedge for hours ... but at least they and the birds are relatively quiet 😄
ReplyDeleteI have a small nest above my front door. I can hear them quite a bit (and definitely end up sweeping the bird poop up regularly) but they certainly beat 9 bleedin' donkeys in the field at the back of my house (well mostly, the donkeys can be cute too)!
ReplyDeleteThat is one cool poem!
ReplyDeleteSpring time ... nest of what ever babies ... I suspect sparrows .. right above my head in the loft ...tweet tweet....fking tweet for hours on end for about 3 weeks.. little bleeders..gah... the fact I was a mother is the only thing keeping them alive ...Lol..I lay there every morning at about 4.30 rueing the day!
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
As long as it's not a rodent!
ReplyDeleteI had a squirrel in the wall right behind the head of my bed. I think the dog got it as all is quiet again,
