Your Tune

Jamie ,our Choirmaster ( Sans his1940 RAF moustache ) organised a few new sings tonight as well as some trusty old tunes at our choir Zoom
He picked one old favourite from before I joined the choir which caught me unawares, sat at the kitchen table like I was.
He chose Moon River
Now, Moon River , was the music that was played at my wedding . It was always  " our tune"
And I haven't heard it publically since the wedding
Having it served as a curved ball at choir absolutely threw me.

After a minute or so , I slunk, hopefully unnoticed out of my  Zoom position in the left top corner of the computer screen
And I stood quietly weeping  in the rain, under the honeysuckle by the front door until everyone had finished singing

  1. Sorry to hear about this unexpected arrow through your heart, John. Special songs like that carry such resonance and alas, will always do so.

  7. That must have been such a dreadful shock John as you would have never have expected it.I think I would have been terribly wounded and shaking.I really don't know why this happened but possibly it's just got to be lived through.Cry and then move on-I'm sure you will be in love again and be loved- until then you have all of Our love surrounding you and your darling furry ones xx

  8. A song will sure do that. When I hear the song my husband and I danced to in our darkened kitchen the night before he died, I have to go cry and wail in the shower.

  11. I think that was a perfect reaction, hopefully a cleansing cry. It actually sounds like a healing moment from my perspective.

  12. You picked a lovely choir to fill in for us. I wonder how many of us are triggered by that song. So many took it as their own.
Your new side bar of Mary's forever friend, is so charming.

are you boomers okay with the fact that teenagers and young people are having their lives destroyed, and many driven to suicide, just so you boomers can enjoy an extra couple of years of life? How selfish are you boomers? What kind of evil person wants to destroy the youth? Are you boomers not afraid of ending up in retirement homes, staffed by all the young people who you abused and destroyed?

  17. It's one of those moments you can't plan for. Sorry you were hurting. I expect the next time you hear it it will do the same thing... and then one day it probably won't. Hugs.

  21. 'Only you' (The Flying Pickets' version) does much the same to me concerning a young fireman I once had a thing with. KBO, as Churchill would have said.

  22. The power of music it can make you happy or sad they can be the soundtrack of our lives as they rekindle past memories it's a bit like watching a sad movie I can sit and cry but I find myself crying not because of the movie but of other things going through my mind and I feel better after it.

  23. I understand. It was a song that had a whole lot of meaning and memories for me too. So sweet. So iconic. Things hurt right now. The pain evaporates slowly. Care for yourself. Weep when you need to.

Moon River was played at my parents funerals and then at my daughter's wedding (she warned me beforehand) so it's very bittersweet for me, but I do love it.
