A Golden Gift

The cottage phone went around 8 pm last night.
It was neighbour Mandy
" I have a scotch egg for you" she said seductively " I thought you could have it for your lunch"
She popped the egg over the kitchen wall a few minutes ago

It looked magnificent on it's plate

  1. It looks quite lonely. It needs a wee bit of salad, maybe some coleslaw and rice.

  3. I got two Christmas cards from neighbours yesterday. They assume I can feed myself thank goodness and don't leave food for me although last Christmas a lady from the barn brought me a big chunk of Christmas cake because I didn't get to go to Genoa because of the Gatwick drone and invited me for drinks on Boxing Day. I don't think I would want food brought round for me. What do you think about it?

  4. I quite fancy being seduced with a Scotch egg. Or a Melton Mowbray pork pie.

    1. But it has to be a Dickinson and Morris pie! All others are poor imitations!

  8. I'm driving up to Center Parcs in Cumbria tomorrow, and will be calling in at Tebay services Farm Shop to purchase several of their delicious 'soft yolk' Scotch eggs, they are things of true beauty!
Anyone driving up that way, give yourselves a treat, they're delicious!

  10. That is lovely John-I no longer eat scotch eggs as I avoid pork being a vegetarian but as a teenager I ate them.I had a very unpleasant "gift" from a neighbour several years ago.It was a Christmas card and on opening it found a large amount of spit! The police did tell me she had anger issues and so I crossed her off of my Christmas card list x

    1. I'm quite partial to a bit of spit, and funnily enough pork too. The two combined together are a delight in the mouth.

  13. I've never had a Scotch Egg but it sounds good. Maybe I can make my own if I can get my energy going.

  14. There are just some women who cannot bear the thought of a single man going hungry. Your village seems to have several!

  15. Last Friday we went to Matlock Christmas Market, Derbyshire. Lots of different stalls all under a huge canvas. John, I think you would have exploded with excitement! I turned a corner and there it was, a stall devoted to every size and flavour of scotch eggs. Some were positively enormous! I just pointed at them, turned to my husband and exclaimed, "John in Wales!"
