The " new" armchair
I was shampooing the bulldog accident wee stains from the living room carpet when I thought I heard the letter box snap. I saw the envelope and spied a carrier bag tied to the front door knob and knew someone had popped off a gift. It was blog reader Suz and her hubby and I invited them in for coffee.
I felt awful.....awful in the fact I was wearing my grubby track suit bottoms and a t shirt with egg down the front. I looked like a homeless tramp in crocs.
The cottage however looked a bit cleaner as My new ( seconds actually) arm chair had been delivered this morning and like any gay middle aged man worth his salt , I had spent several " happy" hours re arranging my furniture
The old armchair has been relagated to a reading chair in the kitchen
Note Suz's gifts of scotch eggs on the table!
Lovely.
ReplyDeleteps - any tips for getting wee stains off carpets?
Getting off stains.....and the tittering ensues.
DeleteThank you Andi x
Naughty.... yes fabreese in your carpet cleaner
DeleteA Winnie or Dotty accident?
ReplyDeleteI get to rearrange furniture tomorrow when my new (second hand actually) sofa is delivered. I am already planning to make some cushions for it.
Enjoy your nesting and scotch eggs on this dreary, wet day.
Dotty..
DeleteShe is not quite housetrained...almost... but not
I hope you had been able to get some rest after that long work week, enough to enjoy your company.
ReplyDeleteI'm off to the theatre tonight, then drinks and food with friends tomorrow
DeleteA lovely wing chair. So great for reading--and then, when fatigue overcomes you--for leaning your head to the side for a snooze.
ReplyDeleteAnd a wide ass cushion too!
DeleteAt one time I was allowed to move the furniture around.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely isn't it?
DeleteYou gorgeous old tramp. The crocs finished the ensemble perfectly x
ReplyDeleteAs hidden the hole filled underware
DeleteI trust Albert is thrilled at having somewhere new on which to sharpen his claws.
ReplyDeleteI've given him " the look"
DeleteNow that is a perfect surprise.
ReplyDeleteHey! Furniture rearranging is my fav pastime!
ReplyDeleteI love your art wall.
XoXo
Thank u dearheart x
DeleteA little light furniture rearranging is so good for the soul. It goes together with vases of fresh flowers, pictures adorning the walls, cushions plumped... a homely home. Who cares if you looked a scruff, not them I’m sure.

Your phrase "a homeless tramp in crocs" made me giggle.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have a kitchen big enough for a nice table and for a couple of comfy chairs - it looks so cozy and welcoming.
ReplyDeleteI've waited a long time for this one
DeleteIf Suz reads your blog she would not have been surprised if you had opened the door dressed as Harry Potter...or a banana...or the frigging Archbishop of Canterbury!
ReplyDeleteNot Canterbury .i hate the place
DeleteI think it looks very cosy and inviting - watch Winnie and that new armchair - she'll pinch it given half a chance I'll bet.
ReplyDeleteI've had to cover the seat to stop them
DeleteWhat a wonderful "new" chair! Love the sitting area in your kitchen, too. I enjoyed enlarging the pictures to take a better look and there was my all time favorite: The Terriers of Trelawnyd.
ReplyDeleteHad to chuckle at YP's post! A banana?
Hugs!
Love the new armchair, and the old one in the kitchen looks inviting too.
ReplyDeleteI'm a two armchair home!
Deletehave you read Mrs Hinch on twitter? think you would love her (she gets through galons of zoflora, uses it as air freshener).. anyhow, egg stains are resolved in my house by wearing the communal pinny (oil cloth apron that fits husband, sons and me and covers stains nicely :) cosy looking chair, I love rearranging furniture.
ReplyDeleteWe are related
DeleteI hope not John, Zoflora is toxic stuff. Definitely not good where there are pets, particularly cats. On Zofloras website you can read about it, carefully hidden in the small print. Toxic. My vet alerted me to it.
DeleteNice and cozy. Your home looks very welcoming, John. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteoooooooh, I am fancying a cuppa tea and a scone in that cozy warm kitchen!
ReplyDeleteIt's all so very cozy! Do I spy a Christmas cactus on the windowsill in a clay pot sitting in a china chamber pot? And a blue enamel cook pot on the floor holding drinking water for your pals? Beside a bowl full of what - leashes maybe?
ReplyDeleteWell spotted that reader
DeleteA comfortable reading chair is a must for day time.
ReplyDeleteYes that's why I placed it there next to my special Spanish light
Deletemmmm...scotch eggs could be my weakness if i allowed it.
ReplyDeleteIt's my first in two months
DeleteSu did a great job on the Scotch egg, notice how beautifully the yolk is centered and how even the sausage coating is!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely and relaxing day today.
Off to the theatre tonight x
DeleteAll looking lovely and cosy John
ReplyDeleteAfter four hours hard work
DeleteSounds like a nice day at home :) How kind of Suz to bring you your favourite treat!
ReplyDeleteShe brought cocktail sausages for the girls too
DeleteLovely so very lovely !
ReplyDeleteparsnip

ReplyDeleteToday it was clean
DeleteDID SOMEONE SAY CROCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWith sparkles
DeleteToo busy admiring the new chair to even notice the egg stains John, besides if it wern't for our holiday we'd be in similar garb. Just home, pelting rain all the way and diversions across the last 30 miles due to major road closure. In the process of being forgiven by the furry ones.Nice to go away but nice to be home. Thanks for the coffee and warm welcome. Bwthyn y llan is just gorgeous John, such a lovely vibe, a real credit to you. prob lwck, hwyl Suz x
ReplyDeleteLovely to meet you both xx
