A patient said to me this afternoon
"I just want to fucking laugh at something"
We get on, and I think I'm on his wavelength
After a think I returned to his room and played for a minute on his iPad
" Watch this!" I told him
3 hours later I passed his room and I caught his eye , as he played with his kids. He raised a skinny hand and gave me a big thumbs up and a grin
This is what he watched
I was reminded of it last night as I chatted to a friend......it's priceless

DeleteBrilliant 🤣. Laughter is a great tonic for anyone. When I first started being in the Hospice I worked for on a regular basis, I was surprised how much laughter there was.
ReplyDeleteI have laughed a lot today

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you could bring laughter into that gentleman's day! As Reader's Digest named their joke pages: "Laughter is the Best Medicine". So true. Am glad, too, that your new job has lots of opportunities for laughter.
DH just called downstairs to ask why I was laughing and who was laughing with me! :D
Hugs!
Sitting on the sofa at the end of a very long day , this was just perfect in so many ways.

That was cute, some days I think that as well, I just want to laugh at something. I love how you treat your patients as more than just a job.
