It's title is A Quiet Place and I'm pleased with it .
It's replaced a painting I loved dearly. One of a Bluebell wood and although the colours in my new painting are more muted and almost ethereal, I think I've chosen a lovely substitute.
Storm Gareth is sweeping in. I'm still on holiday
And I am a loss of what to do today.
Tate Modern you can celeb spot, we saw Baptiste there last time
ReplyDeleteI saw Patrick Stewart there once
DeleteIt’s lovely!
ReplyDeleteI really like the colors and the fact that you decided to give it to yourself. Self care is essential.
XoXo
That is a beautiful painting. This weather is crap; I'm having a Hygge day and I'm going to watch that new television drama Cheat, drink wine and cuddle the dog.
ReplyDeleteThe painting is gorgeous! I like Sue's suggestions about what to do on a stormy day.
ReplyDeleteLove the painting it's good to treat yourself if I were you I'd just wrap yourself in a nice blanket sit with your dads on the sofa and have a down day doing nothing. I for one am doing just that.
ReplyDeleteHeather.
Sorry should have read dogs. Haha. Heather

ReplyDeleteI like the painting you chose. Looking at it, I had a sudden memory of my childhood--my parents had a book -coloured plates of quiet landscapes, and I used to curl up in an armchair and look at my favourite one and daydream for hours. I'd forgotten that completely - that was 70 years ago. I would have liked the bluebell wood scene too. Growing p in Kent and Hertfordshire, the woods near us, a sea of blue are some of the things i miss about England. Jean/Winnipeg
ReplyDeleteThere is a calmness about it that I like
DeleteA serenity. An ethereal serenity.
DeleteYou're right, the painting has an ethereal beauty, it's lovely. Do some baking, John - it always cheers me up xx
ReplyDeleteI'm at fat club so baking is a no no
DeleteI ought to go to one but I'd rather bake!
DeleteBake anyways, the cottage will warm up, smell great and then you can keep one or two and give the rest away to someone like Mrs Trellis ? I am looking up low carb baking using different flours. Daughter bakes this way.
DeletePainting sounds good also.
cheers, parsnip
It's lovely, John!
ReplyDeleteGlad u like it
DeleteArrange your postcard display? I have decided today to make a quilt for a very dear friend who was told yesterday that the oncologist can do no more for her. I want to send her a warm hug - this is the best I can do. S
ReplyDeleteThe quilt sounds perfect. It's a metaphore for friendship
DeleteI love that painting. A stormy day with nowhere to go? I think I'd either do some cleaning (hate it, but it's therapeutic), baking or just snuggle down with a box set. That's kind of my plan for today but I have to visit someone in hospital first.
ReplyDeleteMovie s for me this afternoon
DeleteIt is a lovely painting. If you are at loose ends, why not try to make some art of your own?
ReplyDeleteI've just bought some acrylic paints from Aldi
DeleteGood! If you need help I am sure that there are some useful tutorials on YouTube.
DeleteI didn't know what to do this morning in the rain, so I cleaned the freezer out! Lots of " stuff" that has been in there far too long and gone " funny"..all gone now. Space in the freezer and I feel good having done it! I have my shift at the Oxfam bookshop this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteI'm in choir later
DeleteIt's a lovely painting, I can see why you chose it.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to do something I haven't done for a long time and sit down with a large coffee, a plate of biscuits and one of my favourite films, perhaps Amelie or Chocolat. I'm sure Suky will snuggle up with me and we can forget the wind and rain outside the walls of the Van for a few hours.
I love both films though the final part of chocolat dissapointed
DeleteI know what you mean!
DeleteYour painting doesn't 'speak' to me, but the important thing is that it did to you. Enjoy it in all it's tranquillity.
ReplyDeleteI think a good book, cuddles with your dogs and plenty of hot drinks are the order of the day. It's my partners birthday today and I have promised to take him out for sushi, so I am on my way into Manchester and the weather is vile!
I'm watching a bad zombie movie at the moment
DeleteCAn almost feel the quietness in the painting.
ReplyDeleteJimbo it's very peaceful
DeleteArt displayed in our homes should always be a personal choice - pieces we enjoy looking at constantly because they speak to us in a very special way. I'm with you on landscapes, how can one ever get tired of them, and this woodland scene is really lovely.
ReplyDeleteJohn, do you have a special wall to hang it? Please don't leave it on top of your radiator if heat could cause damage.
It will be on hold until I know where I will be living so it stays there, the radiator is seldom on
DeleteWill you be able to stay there? Or are you wanting to move on, so to speak?
DeleteI may have to move
DeleteYou can't catch a effing break, can you?!!
DeleteOpen up a B&B! One room, provide breakfast and away they go. You control the bookings. Could be useful source income. We found it hard to find places to stay in October, so off season might be the way to go
Deletewell worth the treat
ReplyDeleteI have a larger painting very similar to that in our entryway, picked up in an antique shop. Very peaceful. Cuddles with your furry family and movies sound peaceful for a stormy day, too. Try to avoid Twitter if you can?
ReplyDeleteLove the painting. A nice place to rest your eyes and let your mind wander.
ReplyDeleteNice piece, and so are the two that bracket it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, serene painting and I'm so pleased that it's yours. Hope you find another place in your home to hang the Bluebell Wood painting so you can continue to enjoy it, too.
ReplyDeleteTurn up the music and dance!
Hugs!
Amazing how a painting can draw you in - does it remind you of a place or time from memory? It's so calming that I truly understand the desire to walk right into those woods. I hope with all my heart that it will one day soon hang on the walls right there where you are!
ReplyDeleteWe all need A Quiet Place sometimes. Enjoy your lovely picture and make some plans for the time when the sun shines.
ReplyDeleteI need to make some pate for my mom, she was gifted some local cow liver and adores pate but cannot make it herself (parkinsons). I hate liver but do it for her...Your new painting makes me yearn for warmer weather, it's below freezing still, the woods across the road are like that little scene.....
ReplyDeleteLooks like Aspens in the autumn. Very nice, John.
ReplyDeleteNice painting! I'd say it's a good day to stay inside and shelter with the dogs.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful painting. I love the colours and the way the light falls. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it! It's just the sort of painting /subject that I favor.
ReplyDeleteA quiet place is a good thing to have around, even if it's a painting you can get lost in. I always hear birds when I look at these kind of pictures.
ReplyDeleteDeedles I agree wholeheartedly !
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased you treated yourself to the little painting.
ReplyDeleteI have been snuggled up on the sofa for hours watching TV and cuddling my puppy feeling like a sledge hammer has hit me as I walked out of my job yesterday.
The rain stopped, the sun came out so puppy and I have been along the cliff top enjoying the fresh air.
A very peaceful looking painting.
ReplyDeleteLovely choice - thanks for letting us see it.
ReplyDeleteI've got a similar painting I did of the trees in the woods here. The trees are bright red.
ReplyDeleteQuiet place indeed John - I love the painting and hope you get pleasure from it.
ReplyDeleteA loss AS TO what to do. Carry on. xxx
ReplyDeleteBTW, I advise you to delete all comments which you do not approve of. xxx
DeleteLovely painting, I adore landscape scenes and your painting reminds me so much of the woods close to where I grew up. Nothing similar anywhere near me now. Autumn here and the weather is still very lovely, cool mornings and very warm days. I am away from work grieving an elderly gentleman I help care for..his poor wife is an empty shell at the moment, it is all too much to watch.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
Of course it now should read "helped" care for.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
That's my kind of painting. Husband would call it 'desolate', but to me, it's peaceful!
ReplyDeleteI could stand leaning on the tree, front left, with my forehead resting against the trunk, and just 'be' for a while. Yeah, I'm a closet tree hugger!
I want to win the lottery, then I could buy your cottage, and you could be the live in housekeeper, as in, you could keep the house! Cross your fingers! X
lol those things only happen in movies x
DeleteWe can always hope........
DeleteYour new painting evokes a feeling a calm. Very nice. x
ReplyDeletei love that painting. i would have bought it if i'd seen it.
ReplyDeleteLovely painting I can understand why you chose it
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried meditation? Guided ones, no need to go off on the deep end. It's a life saver for me. For instance, Loch Kelly, what is there when there's no problem to solve? YouTube. I love you're able to socialize so well but it's important to be able at home too , no? Especially during these storms of weather and mind.
ReplyDeleteOr anything by Jonathan foust
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. May it give you years of pleasure... the painting not Gareth.
