Gift

The Prof is away, flying down to Cardiff
I've been to the vets on a med run,
These flowers were on the doorstep when I returned
I've done nothing to deserve them
The label with them had only one word written on it
" Trellis"

  2. Lovely! Also, I wanted to tell you that you inspired me to buy flowers for myself yesterday. You mentioned that you've had fresh flowers in the cottage every day since 2006, and I love that!

    1. Yes. In actual fact it was always a rule I made for myself when I bought my second house in 1996 ..even when I had no money, I always had a bunch of fresh flowers in the house

Mrs Trellis is a piano loving , whippet owner widow...a former midwife and loyal village supporter

    3. Yes, Newbie. I should've waited to comment until there were other comments to read first and picked it up that way. You're like a mystery novel that works itself out during the read the more comments there are!

  7. Mrs Trellis is a bit of a dark horse isn't she? Clearly, she's trying to woo you while your master is abroad. If you keep shtum, The Prof will never know.

  8. Excuse my side trip, but is that a screen on the right, to put into the open window, against bugs. I have long been jealous of you and your open windows and summer breezes. The flowers are lovely.

    1. Joanne, I think it is a dish drainer and a pot brush. We dont generally need fly screens over here that much. My FIL has them on his back door and kitchen window in Scotland but only for a few months because of midges. Other than that it is just a few flies mainly. I dont know if you have midges over there. here is a link in case https://www.smidgeup.com/midges/midge-season/

They have something similar in Canada I think, black fly season.

    2. Winnipeg is notorious for black fly. We don't get them but we do get mosquitoes and all windows have screens and we also have screen doors. Nice flowers by the way.

  14. Mrs Trellis of North Wales probably meant them for GQT but left that at the wrong address.

  15. Well obviously somebody feels that you deserve flowers. All the colours, perfect for this time of year.

  16. Isn't it wonderful when friends are also neighbors or at least close by? Mrs Trellis now has the appreciation of her kindness by you AND all your blog friends!

  17. Also, in case anyone wonders why....old post of John's..." I bought an untidy bunch of garage shop flowers that was standing by the entrance. Ones with a couple of odd looking very blue blooms included( you know the sort) and I stopped at Mrs Trellis' neat little house on the way home with them.

"The house is so quiet" she said forlornly when I called in, and I was so glad I had stopped even though all I had to offer was some cheap crap flowers.

No one should be alone...not when you have lost a dear loved one.........even if that loved one was a bad tempered dog who seemed to have hated the world........

    Hey ho"
