Getting There

The tiler came at 8.30 and left Winnie bereft at 1pm .
She is beside herself with tradesmen  after workman +++ have been visiting the cottage over the past 3 weeks!.
She watched his every move and even followed him to the toilet at one point.
He made a good job of it
( the tiling not the toilet visit)
The kitchen is now almost finished, save for some painting and titivating .

  1. That looks fab! Are they IKEA wooden worktops? I have them and they are great, just sand any stains off and whack on the IKEA oil. Each coat looks better and better x

    1. I'll have to pick your brains on the oil thing Nanny people say they get sticky if you use too much

    2. As long as you use it sparingly and buff it well (ooher missus) it should be fine. Lots of thin coats work better than one oil slick-as I found to my cost! x

  11. Gorgeous! Magazine worthy! You and IKEA should be very proud.
Are the tiles soft grey instead of original choice of duck egg?

  15. The stove top is great! I use mine as extra counter space. If you get a burned on splash you can use a razor blade and it comes off with ease and no damage to the glass. Good choices on everything!

There's a little blade with a handle you can pick up from the DIY shop that's easier to use than just a blade. My mum managed to melt a plastic placemat onto her hob, but after a bit of elbow grease (and some ceramic hob cleaner too) it's like new. Lovely looking kitchen you have now, I think you've just confirmed for me that we'll be having a wooden worktop in ours!

Every meal will be Cordon Bleu standard from now on - no excuses!
Poor Winnie - what's next for the transformation - the bathroom? You can't leave the poor girl bereft!

  41. Appreciating your new kitchen style... fresh but in keeping with the cottage era. So often you see ultra modern which grates with the period of the house.
We are currently building.. just got our windows delivered all double glazed and all damaged from transport.. hair pulling exercise to get attention at this time of year- once delivered they don't give much of a damn!!
Enjoy your efforts and planning your great space and lots of cuddles to Winnie who will be missing the visits by tradies ;)

  42. Looks splendid, is it the sort of kitchen you can live in doing all your stuff, while the prof is in his study. I'm guessing yes if you do have room for a table dogs at your feet. My activity centre I eventually realised was the sitting room coffee table cos my kitchen is too small for a table sigh.
