Christmas Fair

Sandra C from the village now organises the annual Christmas bash, which is a lot of work for one lady and her family.
There was music from a local band, the village schoolchildren and from the village choir.
We ( the members of the Flower Show Committee- Terry, John , myself, animal helper Pat, Ann and dapnae ) didn't see much of the fair as we were in charge of the catering tables and kitchen.
Terry doesn't like Christmas so we put him front of house  serving teas and next to the PA system speaker , he almost went bananas  with the constant Christmas theme of the songs .

Members of the village a Male Voice choir sang traditional ditties
Santa ( Head of the community council Dave Smith) arrived on his moter  bike with his Elf in the sidecar

  6. I just returned from a Christmas farmers market, it was a lot of fun except I kind of lost control regarding buying homemade treats. I keep telling myself that I am doing good by supporting local businesses, yes that sounds noble, I'm going with that explanation.

  9. Ah only villages can do this well. Fraserburgh is having a free skating rink. Man made. What is the world coming to. Covered by a large tent in case it snows.

  10. It seems to be the day for them. John (Stargoose on my side bar) had one in Cambridge. You had one in Wales and we had one here too.

  11. You're making me all nostalgic now for the Christmas teas of my youth held in our small one-horse prairie town's community hall. Oh, the baking! The White Elephant Table! The arts and crafts table! And the Fish Pond! (my fave -- hey, gimme a break, I was like 5).

At first glance,Santa reminded me of Claude Jeremiah Greengrass, from heartbeat. Must have a look and see if I have some of those old episodes and re-watch, I just loved that program.

  14. How fun. That's the great things about small towns, all the local, just plain fun, events.

  15. The middle picture shows the school choir on the stage. Surely the children's faces should have been blurred to protect their identities. It's especially surprising as "Going Gently" is normally a paragon of political correctness.

  18. The red Santa and Elf outfits really stand out - it looks like a black and white photo aside from them! This sounds like a heartwarming way to spend some time and for a good cause.
