La Boheme

The end of the second act had to be seen to be believed

  1. You'll be wrung out after the emotion of the 9/11 -Twin Towers and and then the opera. Sounds wonderful though. There are some experiences I flunked - Auschwitz was one, and Anne Frank's home in Copenhagen another - I feared I'd never find the tiny pieces I fell apart into!

    1. I think you mean Amsterdam - good job you decided not to visit it in Denmark.

    2. SueF, yours is the type of comment which makes me smile in recognition and would up vote if only we were given the option. Still, to give Virginia her due - maybe she is jet lagged.

    1. I've never quite seen anything like it. Two street levels, a horse and carriage, a full brass band, 14 soldiers , a dozen children and what could have been eighty extras!

  4. Aren't you on vacation? When do you sleep? I just saw you're in NYC. My favorite thing to do is go to Chinatown and buy some random unidentifiable food and eat it.

  5. It must be the end... I see the fat lady singing.

  6. Lovely - with music to drown oneself in. I assume that must be the Met. (Where else?)
Looks as if there were almost as many on stage as in the audience.

  8. Such a corny but beautiful opera. I'm glad you saw it!

  9. Hell's bells! There seem to be a helluva lot more people on stage than when we saw "La Boheme" at The Buxton Opera House. It's the one and only opera I have ever seen.

  11. An amazing city, a little larger than it's namesake.

  12. Oh wow! La Boheme at the Met! I have been thoroughly enjoying your account of your travels, but I just slid slightly into envy :-) Seriously though, fabulous, hope the prof enjoyed too x

  13. It's been 15 years since I saw it at the Met - I've forgotten so much of it. I have to be honest, I just remember dozing off a couple of times and being impatient for it to end! I love certain arias from various operas, but have a very hard time sitting through an entire one. For me, so different from Broadway plays which almost always captivate me (except for Cats; my then 13 year old daughter and I couldn't take it, and left at intermission, lol). Certainly glad you enjoyed it, though :)

So glad you both are enjoying yourselves. You will need a week to recoup when it is over.

  16. Wow that looks like a much better production than I saw in Melbourne.
I'll be in New York late November, I hope it's still on.
