Well, won't that be an interesting funeral. I am not big on funerals, but if someone decides to "throw" me one, I want "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life". -Jenn
I do not plan to have a service, but if I were to do so, perhaps I would use "So long and thanks for all the fish" from "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG6b3V2MNxQ
At first I thought this was an expression used 'over there' when someone has died....".....Nige is over". I didn't think you were THAT glib, John!! lol
I want to begin with Carmina Burana by Carl Orff (we had this for my Dad's funeral as both he and I love(d) this music), and I want Abba's 'Money, Money, Money' when everyone is leaving. My family think I'm joking about 'Money, Money, Money' but I'm not, I'm deadly serious!
I want to be carried in to the strains of 'The Flower Duet', then a verse or two of 'Firestarter' and have people leave to 'I've Had the Time of My Life'. I also want the whole place to be full of Stargazer Lillies, if only to make sure of tears from folk with hayfever!
It occurs to me, was "Happy Heart" only what a man would sing about when this was recorded? I'm not citing a gender issue here; no reason to think that, as this was probably on the Andy Williams Show, EXCEPT that the female decorating the scene was not a model or actress. She was a famous singer. Perplexing.
The only good funeral song I ever heard was played at the end of a service for a truly amazing woman: "Unforgettable."

ReplyDeleteMy eldest boy has said that he will have 'Fat Bottomed Girls' played at my wake!
ReplyDeleteLike others here have said, I don't want a funeral but if someone chose to throw one then definitely play Del Amitri's Kiss This Thing Goodbye. =D
ReplyDeleteI just don't even know what to say.
ReplyDeleteNige will have trouble hiring that particular duo for his funeral as Andy Williams died in 2012 and Petula Clark is 83 years old.
ReplyDeletePetula's talent is underused in that clip.
ReplyDeleteIs this your normal opening conversation when a friend comes to stay?
ReplyDeleteYes

ReplyDeleteI want 'Come on baby light my fire' as people leave the Crem (fits my warped sense of humour)
