I worked on the gate of the Prestatyn Flower Show today.
I didn't have any sleep after work, but I think I was cheerful enough.
I worked alongside an elderly chap called Keith ( not his real name)
Who had to go home early after I'd given him my suger sweet cupcakes to eat , not knowing he was a diabetic!
Hey ho.
I fell asleep in the car in the sun when I went to pick the Prof up and nearly fired myself to death ....
Not a pretty sight.
I hope our exhibits are as good as the aboveentries!

Hey ho
So in other words, you sabotaged a diabetic by feeding him sugar then you roasted your soft white English flesh in the noon day sun which as we all know, is only done my Mad Dogs and Englishmen.
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh so much.
DeleteEffectively, you were a bouncer at The Prestatyn Flower Show. I never realised that it attracted yobs and other roughnecks but I guess that's North Wales for you.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks very lovely!
ReplyDeleteI hope by now you have had chance to catch a few winks. Fired or fried - 'tis no matter I guess, sore is sore.
ReplyDeleteNothing like killing people with kindness, John.
I love these entries, John, the Flowershow, the gardens, the judge, aunt Gladys and your own burning spirit and humourus way of describing everyday villagelife and dogs. I bet your patients appreciate you a lot, as long as you don't feed the diabetics with cake! We never have flowershows but sometimes Open Garden-days. Those are the days when we hide somewhere else, hoping nobody will stop by our garden, other than for hunting pokemons!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks wonderful. Love the single bloom forth from the left, second shelf.
ReplyDeleteWhat two fabulous barrel cactus on the right !
cheers, parsnip and thehamish

Er...surely HE knew he was diabetic?
ReplyDeleteI love the roses and the giant cactus!
ReplyDeleteI love country shows. We will miss our local one for the first time since we moved here, this year but tbh much as I love it, I'd rather be capering about on a beach in Anglesey, so never mind x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat did the guy think was in those cupcakes? Surely he'd expect them to have sugar. Poor you, you need a good sleep, tho I m glad to hear the Prof let you have the car today.
ReplyDeleteLovely. Hope you got some rest.
ReplyDeleteYou sound tired xx
ReplyDeleteI am...just walked the dogs , made dinner, locked up the animals , cleaned the house and made the spare up as a frriend is visiting tomorrow..im bushed
DeleteThe flowers look lovely. Bet that man had skipped breakfast .... ijit! And as for falling asleep in a hot car .... camomile lotion and cool bath ... and a gin!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful. Can't wait to see all the entries.
ReplyDeleteAny 32 stone Primroses?
ReplyDeleteGiggles, I'm glad you can get some rest now. The flowers are lovely. I can just imagine how the roses smell. My Grandmother grew many variations of roses. She was always picking some sort of bouquet to bring in the house. My memories of her are joyful!
ReplyDeleteFor sunburn, dab some apple cider vinegar on yourself. You'll smell like a salad dressing for a bit until it soaks in, but it'll dispel the heat and help you avoid peeling.
ReplyDeleteNow I have a picture planted in my head of a bumbling well-intentioned off-duty yawning nurse leaving chaos in your benevolent wake ... get some sleep tonight, I hope!
ReplyDeleteI can't help but wonder what chocolate cake recipe you went with John or was it a combination?Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteAt least you didn't have any of your 'pack' in the car with you (did you?) - now THAT would have been unforgivable!
ReplyDeleteYour day and the flower show..eventful as ever, and over for another year.
ReplyDeleteAny post show calamities or triumphs to share;) ???
Rest well
ReplyDeleteDid it not occur to him to tell you he was diabetic? Oh silly me - nurses are s'posed to be psychic as well as caring etc. Next year take your crystal ball with you.
ReplyDeleteFlower show looks wonderful . . .
ReplyDeleteHow is the "fried" feeling . . . after a sleep in the sun?
Too bad `Keith` didnt remember he was a diabetic before he ate them eh ?
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. Next year i promise John.
ReplyDeleteKeith should walk around with a warning sign! Flowers look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou are one tough bird, John Gray!
