Tired & Emotional

I feel tired and emotional.....
No I am not pissed,
I am just tired and emotional
A Night shift, no sleep and vet visits are not compatible
So, its been
Another bout of tests
Another bout of results
Another bout of coxing a poorly old girl to eat
and a sad feeling that the future is just about all mapped out

  1. I'm so sorry, John, it's so hard to lose such a lovely, lovely soul. Even if it's only for a while.

  8. So very sorry to read this. You knew this day was coming but it doesn't matter. When the reality comes it is so hard.
Many of us and you have been in this place so we understand.
Try to rest and get some sleep.

  11. I have been listening to a radio serial each night about a dog, narrated by its owner, and sadly tonight's episode had echoes of your blog post.

  12. I do hope you've had some sleep. I am so sorry. Can you look Meg in the eye and tell her nine is not nearly enough. Keep doing the best you can; it's all she asks.

  13. Just did that yesterday. Now have my primary vet, the opthamology vet and another at the vet school fighting over Sister's treatments. With her diabetes and the catarac surgery, she now has corneal ulcers (freaking holes in her eyes) and she is my child; I love her just as much. Hang in there as it might well turn around. Much love.

  19. Here is something to cheer you up when you're feeling a little better. 610stompers.com. The Macy's parade with their headbands just cracks me up. Perhaps they might be invited to participate in a Welsh garden and flower show.

  24. The low Albumin and BUN means liver, as you well know. Not that it will help a lot, but you might give her something for fluid retention, might help with any physical distress.

    1. There is no water retention or oedema
She has not been eating for a week so i wonder if thats the bun reading.....there is a mass on or near her liver

    2. When our first dog was elderly, the vet said for us not to worry until Angel stopped eating. She never missed a meal, and then one day, she did, and we knew. Even though we could see signs of her ageing, none of us wanted to admit what in our hearts we knew.

I hope you've been able to get some rest. xxx

  27. So sorry you are going through this. Everytime it happens to me I swear the pain is not worth the gift of fur balls. Then I reconsider.

  28. That is such a shame.

  29. Hang on in there John. Give her lots of love and care and stay close. If the end of the road is near let it be as gentle as possible and let her know how much you care for her. Dogs lives are shorter than ours and we know that when we take them on - but it makes absolutely no difference to the heartbreak and the worry.

  32. John, so very sorry to hear about little Meg, but we hope something can be done for her. All of us with pets have been through the distress you are suffering now, and can feel for you, but it doesn't make it any easier.
We lost our lovely little spaniel three weeks ago - we found him in the morning, by the bed. Don't know which is worse - forewarning, or the sudden shock of a much loved family pet taken from you when you least expect it. Weaver says it all.
    Hugs for you and Meg.

Unfortunately it pretty much is for all of us. Surviving life involves trying to live while forgetting that you won't survive it.
